Hypocritical

A voice drones on inside your head,
An intruder in your thoughts,
A versatile enemy
That never can be caught.
Your screams echo on the breeze,
But on one hears it when you speak,
If you climb the crystal mountain
You'll find your soul is at the peak.

You know the world's below you,
You know you're way up high,
You know that you are falling,
But you know you cannot fly.

Time burns in a blaze of glory,
History's trapped inside the flame,
Eternity's buried in ancient minds
Which echo with the call of pain.
Life itself is long forgotten,
One's own thoughts are left behind,
If you want to live you must disappear,
If you want to be free you must lose your mind.

You know the world's beyond you,
You know every single lie,
You know the world is crumbling,
But you know you cannot cry.

Clarity's always out of reach,
Never far, yet never near,
Uncertainty is a splinter in your being,
A hidden weakness, a faceless fear.
A mystery deprived of clues,
A familiar face without a name,
Deja vu of things that haven't happened,
Nothing looks different, yet nothing's the same.

You know the world's behind you,
You know the end is drawing nigh,
You know the world is stalling,
But you know they will not try.
