OSTARA, 20th-23rd SEPTEMBER

Ostara is a festival to celebrate all Male things. The day and nights are now at equal length and spring has finally arrived. The Sun/son is growing in power, as he is initiated into the Male mysteries of his sexuality and the potential to be a Father and an Old Man. The young Sun God is armed with the knowledge of his creative power, as he grows in strength. The Sun God and the Virgin Goddess become attracted to eachother, as they now are aware of their sexuality.

Symbols of Ostara:
Seeds, painted eggs (the symbol of new life and fertility), wattles (little suns), male things, butterflies/cocoons, dying eggs, rabbits, rose quartz, brightly coloured flowers such as daffodils, jasmine, sunflowers and daisies, aquamarine, picking flowers, marigold oil, sunflower oil, yellow candles, lush grass.

On your altar, place a vase of fresh flowers that you have picked yourself. Also, get together with friends and celebrate by painting eggs, and celebrating the masculine side of you. Go for long bush walks and feel the Sun on your body. If there are any young boys who are beginning to grow into young men, now is the time to initiate them into the Male mysteries.
