Ally’s Lover

On a dance-floor in a night-club,
I liked you from first sight.
We danced and kissed, I walked you home,
Then we talked ’till it was light.

You took me to deserted coves,
With sun and sand and sea.
I had the most amazing time,
Due to how you treated me.

You made love to me gently,
And treated me just right.
Now when I’m feeling lonely,
I dream you’re with me through the night.

I loved it in the morning,
When you woke me with a kiss.
That early lazy loving…
Just one more thing to miss.

I felt such strong connections with you,
Deep within my soul.
Never did I realise that
Your love came with a toll.

The way you sat and talked with me,
Your calm, yet intense voice,
Pierced its way into my heart,
I felt I had no choice.

I simply had to love you,
Try not to let you go.
But your love for me had ended.
Why?… I just don’t know.

You said twelve hours was far too short,
For intense love to last.
But when you said you could not stay,
’Twas just twelve days had passed.

And now I find I miss you,
I wish you had not gone.
I wonder just what might have been,
You could have been the one.

I’ve searched for other lovers,
But it’s useless, as I find,
That when my body’s with them,
It’s you that’s in my mind.

I’ve discovered what’s important now,
As I’ve searched through my soul
I know there’s so much more to life,
Though I might not feel quite whole.
