For God’s son was born in a stable bare,
And laid to rest in a manger there.
With oxen watching all around,
Mary’s boy child made no sound.
These angels came with shouts of joy,
“Rejoice the life of this new born boy,
For this young child shall someday bring,
Peace on earth, an end to sin.”
Some lowly shepherds heard these shouts,
“Now what can all that be about?”
They hurried down to Jesus’ bed,
By these angels they were led.
They knelt to worship their new king,
“Noël! Praise to God!” They did sing.
As a gift, a lamb they brought,
A lovely present Mary thought.
The angels then, a star did find,
A bright new star for all mankind.
Over Bethlehem they hung this star,
A light that shone to all afar.
This star was viewed by three wise men,
Who packed their bags right there and then.
They left to find this newborn boy,
The source of hope, and love, and joy.
With them, they each brought one small gift,
And to the stable they rode swift.
To find the child in a bed of hay,
Where silently, small Jesus lay.
They gave their gifts of myrrh and gold,
And frankincense, (as we are told.)
This child, born king of David’s line,
Is why we celebrate Christmas time.
