Hi, I am Angel. March
2006 It’s
been so long since I updated this page with news that I probably should
recapitulate the last few years in a few sentences. The last news I
posted here
was that I am now able to put an M.Phil (MA) behind my name which makes
me very
proud :o) I am now working as an Art History Researcher but am still
dreaming
of one day working for either of my two favourite museums in London:
the Wallace Collection
or the Victoria &Albert Museum.

I grew
up near Zurich, Switzerland but
spent most
of my holidays at my grandparents' place near Dieppe, France. Their
house
and huge magnificent garden, close to the English Channel is what I
would
call "the home of my heart" if you don't mind my using this mushy term.
If it is true that our understanding of words are by association of
experiences
or images, then that place is the root of my understanding of the words
beauty, peace and bliss. I included some pictures of all my homes on
the
Photo Album page.
When I was 17, I went to boarding school in England and passed my A-levels there (I think the US equivalent is high school diploma). It is then that I totally fell in love with jolly old Blighty. But I went back to Switzerland after that and started studying History, History of Art and Archaeology at the University of Fribourg. So, I
moved back to England and studied
for a
BA in Illustration instead. I still live in London now but visit my
parents
and all my old friends in Zurich quite often. I love living in London;
the place is so vibrant and cosmopolitan. Not to mention that it has
some
great art museums and galleries. This city really has it all: The noise
and bustle of every big modern city but also the quiet cosiness of a
Victorian
country village. All the great little restaurants and shops tucked away
around Portobello and Covent Garden… the spooky withered splendour of
Highgate
cemetery and the proud grandeur of the one and only Harrods. There are
more hip bars and night-clubs than I could ever dream of counting and
quiet
old-fashioned hotels famous for their afternoon tea, open log fires,
piano
players… all you need to forget time itself. In summer there is a
feeling,
a "joy de vivre" in the air that I cannot describe, it has to be
experienced.
As for my
other interests, I love
reading above
all else. Difficult to say who my favourite writers are as I have so
many.
But on the very top of my list would be:
Besides that I also just looove Hollywood's golden age movies, classical music, especially opera, Swiss chocolate and of course everything that has to do with art. |
