History:
The Duchess, surprisingly, was formerly human. Long before the Lexx was build, she lived an essentially pretty good life on Earth, before suffering an accident and dying. Moving onto the world beyond, Water offered her to be an official on the Planet, aiding other souls already dead.
Though she had the right intentions in her human life, she also had pride - maybe a little too much. She refused to continue serving and working in her afterlife, and was promptly kicked from Water and onto Fire.
Prince, on the other hand, was intrigued. If a human had the backbone to say "no" to Water, she was propably worth more than to just be torn limb from limb for all eternity. Besides, eternity after eternity had so grated on his nerves that he was tired of always taking care of absolutely everything.
The Duchess became his second-in-command, and given pretty free reign.
She appears wherever she choses to, on any planet or such, letting a little chaos loose here and there. Sometimes just seducing some to do evil deeds, or 'buying' souls in exchange for rescue from others. The Duchess is also a warmonger, which she enjoys most of all. At her will, people around her turn angry and more ready to fight, which often turns into full-scale wars if done on the right people.
With the destruction of Fire, Duchess seems to have lost her home. For the moment. She takes a small piece of rock, generates fire around it, and tosses it back into space, generating a small, tiny fragment of a star that begins to grow again. Somewhere on the other side of the same galaxy, the Baroness does the same thing with a small pebble and a few drops of water...
Duchess is certain that Prince isn't dead - whether this is wishful thinking or the truth is left to be seen. If he has indeed perished, she will eventually be the ruler of the new Fire.
Appearance:
Average build, short black hair with a few longer strands growing from the back of the head, and one white and one red streak over her left eye. Her left eyebrow is pierced at three points, her left ear at one, though a small chain connects to a ring at the top of the ear to the bottom. She wears a top purely consisting of fishnets, and a long, crimson coat-like vest over it. The black leather pants connect to massive boots, and she wears fingerless leather gloves on both hands. She has two obvious scars, one over the abdomen and another just below her colarbone. Her eyes are deep gray, those who look into them sometimes swear they see oblivion just out of reach.
Personality:
The Duchess, in essence, knows her powers are restricted to mainly trickery and illusions, and doesn't feel the suicidal urge to ask otherwise of Prince. The major theme she represents is "now you see her, now you don't", as she alternates between levitation, invisibility, teleporation and shapeshifting to get out of a tight spot. Over the years, this has turned her into quite a coward.
The Duchess suffers a minor case of mood swings, she likes to fight every now and again, but mostly she just enjoys tricking others or surprising them with her powers, making it nearly impossible to land a hit on her. In return, she's not too strong - though she's no pushover, she can't hold her own in a fight with a properly trained fighter like Kai.
If she's not provoking some sort of war, she just plain old likes hurting people, on both a physical and emotional level. What few people know is not too long ago, she used her shapeshifting powers to deal a rather striking blow to the Lexx -- by taking the shape of the beautiful May.
She's very happy with her job, and harbors a deep lust towards her employer - she's venomously jealous of Xev, whom Prince seems to prefer.
Quote:
"Hey there, friend. You look a little lost. I'll help you out. For a price, of course - what? Don't worry, I don't want money. Nothing material, friend. I'll tell you what I want at a later, much later time..."
