This movie just kicks ass! Its got a real cool story line and is set in some dark city of america I think its in the future too but I can't remember. Anyways, it's got Brandon Lee (Bruce Lee's son) and he kicks ass.........well he did.......until he got shot accidently for real on set. Thats pretty whack aye. Anyways, the movie has got lots of violence and its the ultimate revenge movie. You gotta see it. Well here's a brief description of the movie I stole from another site.
A man (Eric, played by Brandon Lee), and his fiancee (Shelly) plan to get married on Halloween. They are both killed on Devil's Night (the night before their wedding). Because their death was so terrible, and their love so strong, the Crow brings Eric back to life "to put the wrong things right." He comes back to kill the four gang members who killed him and Shelly, and finally ends up going after the leader of the gang.
Here's how he died:
As with many movies, The Crow was being filmed in reverse chronological order. With end of production only two weeks away, there were only a few scenes from the beginning of the movie to finish off.
It's important to have a little background information on how prop guns work in movies. For close up scenes, "shells" are used, which are just the casing of a bullet with a tiny amount of gun power in it, just enough to send the case out of the gun. This is realistic in close-up scenes, where it's important to actually "see" the gun firing. In more complicated, distance scenes, "blanks" are used, which are simply a pack of gun powder that when the gun is fired, simply makes a large bang. Real bullets are a combination of the two: a shell packed with gun powder. The powder explodes, and sends the shell out at a very high rate of speed.
In between scenes, one of the prop crew was testing one of the guns for a future scene. He fired the gun, and heard a thud of some sort, but nothing happened. He thought nothing of it. For some reason, none of the guns were cleaned between scenes, as they are usually supposed to be.
Filming began on the "flashback", where you see the red/yellow colored scene of Eric coming home to his apartment to find T-Bird's gang attacking Shelley. Blanks were loaded into the gun. The scene called for Eric to walk into the apartment, and startle the bad guys. Funboy would then turn around and fire at him. A squib (a small device placed on an actor that explodes to give the impression of a gun shot or wound) was placed inside a bag of groceries that Eric was supposed to be bringing home. When shot at, Eric was to fall backwards, and the rest of the scene to be filmed.
Tragically, the uncleaned gun had a lodged shell stuck in the barrel. When shot with a blank, the effect was that of a real bullet: the shell was shot out of the barrel at a high rate of speed. The shot accidentally hit Brandon in the stomach, and he doubled over on his knees and collapsed. Although the scene called for him to fall backwards, everyone just thought that he was over-acting. They continued shooting the scene, until they realized something was wrong. He was bleeding badly from the abdomen.
In the end, a terrible mix of mistakes, not any secret plot, took Brandon's life.
This is the last interview Brandon did before he died :( and its kinda creepy too
"The crow in the film, the bird in the film; you could really look at as a guide...Almost a piece of his own personality that guides him back into his life and reminds him of who he was, what happened to him.
This is a person who has been pushed right to the limits of his ability to cope what is going on. And in a sense is quite mad sometimes... In a sense completely insane, almost in a sense that you might think of an insane person having voices. More rational voices that try to guide him...More irrational voices that come from a more emotional... More deep-seated place. I think that the crow his that rational voice, the crow is his guide.
The crow helps Eric to do what he has to do in a very practical sense; it leads him to places where he has to be, it helps him find people he has to find.
It’s a story about justice for victims.
His mission is to find the people who killed himself and his fiancée, and kill them.
Its a wonderful role, it really is a role that you can take risks with, and gives you a wonderful opportunity to take those risks & stretch, because after all can you tell me how someone who has come back from the dead will behave.
That is one of the wonderful things about playing this character, its a real.... you can really take the gloves off in playing this part because there are no rules on how a person who has come back from the dead is going to behave.
There is a part of him that is filled with rage towards what was done to him. And another of the things that I like about this movie is that all the parts of the character are given balance on the screen. He is torn up really badly, both physically and psychically.
I think the appeal of Eric’s mission is that it is a very pure one. He has come back to seek justice.
I have done other films that have had violence in them, but I have never done anything where I felt that the violence was as justified as this. There is very little need to worry about compassion for his victims.
This is justice, and I truly feel that it is, and I truly feel if I was in the same situation I would do the same thing: It is something that he has to do, and he is forced to put aside his own pain long enough to do what he has to.
This film deals with the concept of a solution being struck between good and evil.
Because we do not know when we are going to die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well and yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number really. How many times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood? An afternoon that is so deeply a part of your being that you cannot conceive of your life without it? Perhaps 4 .... 5 times more. Perhaps not even that.
How many times will you watch the full moon rise ...... Perhaps twenty and yet it all seems limitless.
This is the point of view this character is coming from in the whole film, because it has brought sharply into focus how precious each moment of his life was.
This is the best role I have had the opportunity to get my hands on".
rest in peace dude
