First I should say that technically, these are image macros, but that's what I usually mean when I say "memes." (And you may want to read about my original introduction to concept of memes, back in the 90s, before I ever saw a macro.) Anyway, regardless of what you call them, I've seen countless memes/macros throughout my years on the internet (and especially my years on facebook). Like, seriously, it has to be in the thousands, most of which I wouldn't remember now, and many of which I wouldn't care about. But I'm sure there are plenty I've forgotten that I did like when I saw them, so it's a shame I didn't start this page much, much sooner. Then again, I don't want too many memes here, so I'll try to stick to my favorites, of the ones I currently have copies of or that I see in the future. Below, I'll say a bit about a few of the memes I put here, but not all of them.

An odd mashup of the Jay-Z song "99 Problems" and the Edgar Allan Poe story The Cask of Amontillado.

Applejack from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and Spider-Man (I'm guessing the incarnation from the 1967 series, but I'm not positive). I have no clue why someone chose to put these two characters together, it seems like the most random thing ever, but I love it.

Bull Moose, a chain of music (etc.) stores in Maine and New Hampshire, likes to post a meme with an AT-AT in the winters.

Gus, from Psych. The macro features a line he used several times on the show, after Pluto was demoted from planet status to dwarf planet. That always bugged me as much as it did Gus.

Comparing various Doctors (particularly the Twelfth) to various cats.

The Eleventh Doctor, with a reference to "Thrift Shop" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

One of my favorite jokes ever from The O.C. We're meant to think Summer was talking about "Brokeback Mountain," but as Marissa indicates, she was actually talking about the The Lord of the Rings trilogy (probably specifically the second and/or third movies).

A play on two very different characters with the same name (Clarice), in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and The Silence of the Lambs.

Barney, from How I Met Your Mother. I don't remember if he actually said this, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Supernatural often uses the song "Carry On, Wayward Son" during recaps of prior events in the series. And "Keep Calm and Carry On" (or "keep calm and" countless other endings) is a pretty common type of meme. And one day I was thinking of the original phrase and the song came to mind, so I did a google search to see if anyone had made a meme connecting the phrase and the song before. Which, of course they had. There were several varieties of the idea, and I think this was probably the best one I found.

Senator Stern, from Iron Man 2. The text was added as part of a promotion of a browser app called Greenhouse. I don't recall if the image was on the website, or if I just saw it in some article about the app. Either way, I liked it. (The app itself is about real world politicians, but it was fun to see this image demonstrating how it works with a fictional politician.)

I have a few memes with characters from Futurama. One features Professor Farnsworth expressing a sentiment I often feel, myself. Another has Bender expressing another sentiment I sort of feel, sometimes. And one has Fry eager to buy something, which lots of people on the internet use this meme to express when they see something cool for sale.

"You should be writing." Writing About Writing shares a ton of memes that say this. Maybe someday I'll snag some more of them to put here, but for now I just have one with Grumpy Cat. (See also my Grumpy Cat calendar.)
