Why Jadeite?

Lots of people wonder why I love Jadeite. Lots of lots of people try to make me be indifferent towards him or even hate him (because I drive them sick with my endless talks about how wonderful he is ^^). However, it's remarkably hard to make me dislike anyone I love... Oh well.

Actually I have no particular reasons to like him. In fact, I stick to the opinion that if you love anyone, be it a real or fictional person, you don't need reasons for being fond of him/her - you just love them for who they are. Makes sense to me. Though if you need any reasons, I can list them, but that's going to be a list of qualities I admire in Jadeite.

The most important one is his intelligence. I'm pretty sure that the *only* thing that caused Jadeite's constant failures is the mighty Law of the Genre that can't allow him to beat the lights out of the Sailor Senshi. If the law didn't work once, we'd say "bye bye Usagi-tachi", since Jadeite is obviously more powerful and smart than all three Senshi he fought taken together. His plans are supposed to work perfectly because they *are* perfect; his failure in episode 13 could be his fault partially, but I still blame the Senshi for some deeds; for example, Rei attacked him with her ofuda when he couldn't see her, and that strikes me as something pretty mean. You may tell me that she was just protecting herself, but I don't care, besides a Soldier of Justice is not supposed to fight in unfair ways... Anyway, I'm sure that if Jadeite was a "good guy", he would be still alive and well because he's a smart and skillful warrior (not as powerful as Kunzite maybe, but his brain works just fine ^^...). But since he's a villain, his intelligence is just a hurdle for the Senshi on their way to victory, not something that could help him win the battle.

Another likeable feature of the general is his dedication to his work and his Queen. I have reasons to think that he isn't madly in love with his mistress, but he's like a samurai by his nature - he will serve her because he's faithful. Unlike his fellow generals, he cares the most about his duty and is never going to betray the leader. Well, I admit that he never *got a chance* to betray Queen Beryl, but it seems that he never would. I despise traitors and admire dedicated people, so...

And, well, his looks ^_^. Actually appearance isn't a very important quality, for me at least; I like Ashitare from Fushigi Yuugi much more than Nakago, while Nakago is, hm, *noticeably* more handsome than the Ashitare is and will ever be. Though in Jadeite's case, his good looks just make a nice addition to the bunch of his other admirable features. His appearance isn't extremely unusual, since blond hair and blue eyes are a very common cliche sort of looks. That, however, doesn't mean that Jadeite isn't cute: his hair is prettily cut... er, drawn, especially in the manga (even though I hate the SM manga like plague, I admit that Jadeite is very handsome in it, I'd say Naoko-san drew him better than other generals), his eyes are of a beautiful dark-blue color, and he's just hot as most other male anime characters. Many people state (in fanfics most of the time) that he's not "strikingly beautiful" like Nephrite or Kunzite, or girlishly pretty like Zoisite, but that's the question of tastes and preferences. Technically all generals are cool, one may just like or dislike their looks. For example, I could never understand why many fangirls are nuts about Kunzite... Okay, that's just me.

Well... Jadeite is serious, self-controlled, extremely cute when tries to look Really Really Evil... as if he isn't extremely cute all the time... He's cuddly, gloomy, non-talkative and kawaii to boot. He's a villain who tries to kick the little yummy round butts of the Sailor Senshi, so that's good *wide grin*.

Now you get it?

Good.
