right from the start, the magnificent architechture hits
you and doesnt let you go. biiiiiiiig open spaces, plenty
of guns, ammo and hundreds and hundreds of enemies make this
a fantastic level to play. the architure is epic in scale,
and lighting is done really well and dramatically. you're
never at a loss what to do or where to go, and there's always
some new gobsmacking scenery to stare at. when hordes and
hordes of enemies attack you, it always lasts jsut the right
amount of time before you move on. bloody good stuff. my only
critism is that the map just 'ends'. there's no final confrontation,
no warning or anything, just POW and its over. this review
is pretty short, because there's nothing much more to say.
download it, and enjoy.
HIGHS: bloody good architechture, LOTS of enemies,
and lots of ammo.
LOWS: adrupt ending.
OVERALL SCORE: 9.5/10 download
it, love it.

There are two ways you can play this map - by yourself, or as part
of
Intruder's "Serious Nightmare" map pack. The first
time I played it, I went into the level with a rather large amount of
weapons I wasn't supposed to start with - including a
minigun and a cannon, which are nowhere to be found on this map by
itself.
Thus, having a large arsenal helped me to enjoy
this map as I think it should have been - a part of a series. However,
the
author has recently stated that he never intended
for the map to be a part of any series, so I put on my wading boots and
stepped in again, with just my knife and pistol, on
Normal difficulty.
Once I did that, I immediately noticed several faults with the map,
most
of which include unbalanced monster placement.
First of all, there is a reptiloid highlander in the beginning of the
level,
which you can go ahead and take on with shotgun
and double shofields. I wasn't too impressed with the idea, but
eventually I
got behind an obstacle and shot him in the toes
a couple of times with the pistols. Second, if you skip the pyramid
area at
the start and just head to the right, you won't
get a tommygun OR a grenade launcher, and most likely will die soon
after
you reach the rocket launcher. Third, I just
couldn't beat the Kleer swarm in the rocket launcher area. Too many
Kleers,
not enough ammo. So I cheated and went over to
the next area after knifing all the freaks in god mode. The last
complaint I
have is that in most areas there are
architectural obstacles which allow you to get the monsters trapped in
a
corner or behind a wall, and then shoot them at
will with the double shofields. If you're playing this map by itself,
then
the "cheesy way" will be your only alternative a
lot of the time. Yes, I realize that there are many people out there
more
skilled than I, but I'm sure there aren't many who
relish the idea of staying in a relatively small arena with a crowd of
Kleer, or being at the bottom of a frog pond.
There really isn't much to say in terms of how original
or innovative this map is - it may very well have been one
of the levels which shipped with the game. However, I also
enjoyed playing this map, as it is a simple, linear kill-fest.
Most of the time the map has that "flow" which made the croteam
levels so fun to play. The level's architecture has very few
flaws (a couple of clipping problems which the author warns
about, plus that pesky area where you can wander off the edge
and splatter, even though it's not really such a long fall).
I also can't think of any way to make the monster placement
better - although there's a fairly cheesy way to beat those
frogs :)
OVERALL SCORE: 8/10
I would recommend playing this as part of Intruder's map pack,
rather than by itself - but if you're either a masochist or
a real tough guy, then play it straight up.
