Map Review - Lorel and Hardy, aka The Lava Chapels
The Good- Both maps are divided to three main sections:
the outside area, which has a river of lava and many neat
weapons; the inside complex's roof, which has some armor and
ammunition; and the inside complex's bottom floor, the assorted
mix of weapons and misc items. When it comes to eyecandy,
Ive made some wonderful tricks with the lava itself. It looks
so alive, you can nearly touch it! (Of course, it's lava,
DON'T :)
The Small- I must comment on the map's diversity.
You can play it with a varying number of players and still
have fun, because there are enough items and rooms for everyone,
but the entire thing is quite packed up, so on a small game
you won't have any trouble finding foes to kill (this is unlike
the common Serious Sam DM maps, which have either empty spaces
or are in space).
The Big- This map IS big. There are several dozen
items scattered in the area (including several blue armor
suits and a red armor), and I actually got lost outside. You'll
need at least eight players to exploit the full possibilities
of this map.
The Ugly(Camping Locations)- The most obvious one
will be on the top floor inside the complex, near the entrance.
That way you guard both the red armor and the outside section
of the map, plus you have a healthy supply of ammo and life
items.
The Pool(s)- Only lava pools, but they're darn cool!
Everybody likes to swim in Lava.
