The Good- Excellent work! This map is an excellent
example of what a single player map should be. It actually
has plot (well, more like a goal you need to find), a good
starting sequence detailing the turn of events of your mission,
and many cut scenes displaying what’s going on the other parts
of the map escorted by amusing NETRICSA messages. Additionally,
most of the battle sequences are fun and sane, and involve
the usual-run-blast-run-blast we all love. The eye candy is
very well done, and the terrain (the mountains) is detailed
to the bone, including little patches of snow on the top.
I liked the small lava river which looks spectacular (well
worth the trouble of getting to it) and the two temples that
reside in neat valleys.
The Bad- The problem is that only most of the
battle sequences are sane. Toward the end you’ll find yourself
plowing through hundreds of monsters in about ten minutes,
much like the Great Pyramid. That’s okay for an ending level
for a campaign, but not for the first one...
The Pool- WoW, lots of pools :) You start in a pool,
and there are many pools throughout the map, not to mention
your main goal is to find a magical, divine pool! Watery fun
for all of us, now I just need to find my rubber ducky and
get rid of those nasty fish.
The Bottom Line- Can’t wait for the sequel!
