She also forms the "Scooby Gang" with her new found friends, Xander and Willow. She also meets Angel, a vampire with a soul who helps her out. - Xander's friend Jesse dies. - Darla is killed by Angel. - She takes on the Master, a very powerful vampire and manages to defeat him. - Spike comes to town with the love of his undead life, Drusilla. - Kendra is called to be the Slayer upon Buffy's death. 1998 - Oz is bitten by his cousin and turned into a werewolf. - Buffy and her boyfriend, Angel, sleep together which gives Angel a moment of true happiness in which he forgets all the sins he committed as Angelus. This triggers a loophole in his curse, causing him to revert to Angelus who in turns wreaks havoc in Buffy's life. - Jenny Calendar is killed by Angelus. - Buffy and Spike form an alliance to stop Angelus from calling forth Alcaltha, which in turn will open a hell dimension. - She fights Angelus, who at the last minute gets his soul back. But Buffy is forced to close the gate to hell by using Angel. - Buffy runs away to L.A. after losing Angel for good. While there, she is a waitress that goes by her middle name, Anne. - Angel returns from hell, creating tension between him and Buffy. - Spike visits Sunnydale after Dru dumps him and informs the two lovers that they will never be just friends. - Angel tries to kill himself, but Buffy saves him. - Faith, the new Slayer, comes to Sunnydale. - Giles is fired from the Watchers Council. 1999 - Buffy gets a new Watcher, Wesley. - Faith accidentally kills a human, leading her down a spiral of destruction. - Angel and Buffy play a game with Faith, trying to get her to reveal the Mayor's plans. In the process, Angel must pretend to be Angelus and to show affection towards Faith, which hurts Buffy even though she know's he's just acting. - Buffy gains a demon aspect of hearing people's thoughts for a short time. She tries to read Angel's mind, but since he's a vampire, it doesn't work. - Joyce talks to Angel and convinces him to let Buffy have a normal life. - Faith, now teamed with the Mayor, poisons Angel so that only a slayer's blood can cure him. Buffy ends up forcing Angel to feed off her to save him. - Buffy, with the help of her friends, Angel and the entire school, manages to defeat the Mayor. - Angel leaves Sunnydale. - Wesley leaves Sunnydale and subsequently becomes a rogue demon hunter. - Cordelia moves from Sunnydale to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. - Spike returns to Sunnydale yet again, this time searching for the gem of Amara. - Buffy has a one night stand with a fellow college student named Parker, who turns out to be a jerk. - Buffy meets Riley, a TA in one of her classes. - The Initiative captures Spike and implants a behavior modification chip in his brain. - Angel visits Buffy in secret when his friend Doyle has a vision of Buffy in trouble. - Buffy visits Angel after learning he came to Sunnydale secretly. They counter a Mohra demon whose blood regenerates Angel to a human. Angel, however, learns he will not be able to protect Buffy in this state, so he asks the PTB to reverse his condition. They turn back the hands of time which causes Buffy to forget short fling. 2000 - Buffy and Riley begin a cautious relationship after learning each other's secret identities. - Faith wakes from her coma that kept her out of action since 1999. - Faith switches bodies with Buffy, wreaking havoc in Buffy's life. Faith has sex with Riley while in Buffy's body, creating major problems in upcoming episodes. - Buffy regains her body, while Faith runs off to L.A. - Buffy goes to L.A. to chase after Angel, much to the annoyance of Angel. - Prof. Maggie Walsch is killed by her own creation, Adam - The gang take on Adam by invoking the power of the First Slayer and combining their strength with Buffy. - The after effects of the above mentioned event cause the First Slayer to harass the Scoobies in their dreams. - Buffy meets the greatest vampire of all time, Dracula. - Three priests send the Key to Buffy as her sister, Dawn. - Joyce, Buffy's mom, falls ill. - Buffy learns that Riley has been seeking out the company of women vampires who drink his blood for money. This leads to their breakup and Riley leaves town. - Buffy learns that her latest enemy, Glory, is actually a god. 2001 - Dawn learns that she is the key. - Buffy learns that Spike is in love with her and has a confrontation with Drusilla. - Joyce dies, changing Buffy and Dawn's life forever. - Angel makes a brief appearance to comfort Buffy after her mother's death. - Spike makes a Buffybot - a robot that looks exactly like Buffy - to use as a sex toy. - Buffy dies after fighting Glory and saving Dawn's life. - Buffy returns after being resurrected by Willow and the others. She returns confused and lost, knowing she was in what she believes was heaven. - A trio of guys, Andrew, Warren & Jonathan begin their quest to vanquish the slayer, but really only end up annoying her. - Buffy learns of Willow's growing addiction to power and magic. Willow even dares to use a spell on Buffy to make her forget she was in heaven, but it backfires. - Spike reaches out to Buffy and they begin to sleep together. 2002 - Buffy gets a job at a fast food joint, the Doublemeat Palace. - Riley returns with a new wife which leads Buffy to dump Spike. - Xander and Anya prepare to marry, but Xander backs out just before the wedding begins. - Buffy friends learn of her former relationship with Spike. - Buffy takes on the trio of nerds who have been causing problems all season. She manages to put the two least harmful in jail, but the worst (and murderer among them), Warren, escapes. - Warren takes his revenge on Buffy by shooting her and ends up killing Tara with a stray bullet. - Buffy is seriously injured by the shot, but is saved by Willow who uses magic to snatch the bullet out of Buffy's body. - Willow goes after Warren, much to Buffy's dismay and futile attempts to stop Willow. - Willow kills Warren and next goes after Jonathan and Andrew, who end up being protected by the Scoobies. - Xander stops Willow from creating her own apocalypse. - Buffy realizes that she wants to be in the world after all, and patches things up with Dawn. - Buffy spends a relatively quiet summer growing closer to Dawn and Xander while Willow is away in England, learning to deal with what she has done. - Dawn starts her second year of high school at the newly rebuilt Sunnydale High School. - Buffy finds Spike living in the basement of the school, and notices he is much more different then when she last saw him. - The principal of the high school offers Buffy a volunteer job as someone for troubled students to talk to. - Buffy begins to have dreams of young girls running from robed figures who eventually kill them. - After Spike accidentally stabs someone in the shoulder, Buffy learns he got his soul back for her sake. - Willow returns from Sunnydale and finds her friends are indeed still her best friends. - Buffy begins a job as a unofficial counsellor at the new Sunnydale High. - Buffy has a heart to heart with a guy she vaguely remembers from high school who's now a vampire. She explains some of the issues she has with herself and her friends. - Buffy learns that Spike may be feeding again. - Buffy realizes she is now dealing with the First Evil. - The First Evil revives the "UberVamp". - Buffy and the gang are introduced to "potential" slayers. They are the ones in the slayer line, and one will be called whenever Faith dies.
