The homies figures are a series of collectible figurines. When they were first introduced, the homies figures aroused considerable controversy, and many stores removed them from their shelves. Production of the collectible figurines slowed, and they became harder to find.
The Homies figures are popular collectibles.  Every homie figure has his/her own distinct personality, and collectors know each of the characters by name.
Who are the Homies?
The homies are a group of tightly knit Chicano buddies who have grown up in the Mexican American barrio (neighborhood) of Quien Sabe (Who Knows), located in East Los Angeles. The four main homies figures are Hollywood, Smiley, Pelon, and Bobby Loco.
What does the word "homie" mean?
The word "homies" is a popular street term that refers to someone from your hometown or, in a broader sense, anyone that you would acknowledge as your friend.
Do the homies figures glorify gangs?
No.  That's not the idea at all.  The homies live in an inner-city world plagued by poverty, oppression, violence, and drugs, but they have formed a strong and binding cultural support system that enables them to overcome the surrounding negativity and allows for laughter and good times.
Who thought this whole thing up?
Dave Gonzales is the creator of the homies figures. It is his hope that the Homies will help create an understanding and appreciation of Chicano culture.
