Sally and her friends Heather, Wendy and Kathy stepped from the dark bedroom
into the brightly lit hall.
“That was a really great film!” Sally exclaimed, as her friends stopped to look
at a poster on the bedroom wall of her brother’s room next door. It was an
‘Iron Maiden’ poster, showing a dark cloaked, axed figure hovering over the
earth. “Yeah, it was a cool film,” Heather agreed. “But they have no idea of
how kids should act, in a given situation.” “What do you mean?” asked Wendy.
“Well if I had been one of those kids, I would never have let those ugly
deformed creatures steal the Jewels without a fight.” “Oh, come on!” Wendy
said. “Those creatures had them surrounded. They had to give up the Jewel’s.”
Sally frowned. “I think Heather’s right. It would have been better if they’d
tried to fight their way out in the first place. Then they wouldn’t have had to
face those creatures.” Wendy rolled her eyes.
“Then they wouldn’t have made a film!” Kathy was very quiet. In fact, she was
still staring at the poster as if lost in a world of her own.
“You know what would be really great?” She said at last. “If we could go on our
own adventure.” “Well, that’s a joke,” laughed Heather. “There’s no place to
go, around this tiny village.” “Well, we could explore ‘Spirit Cave’ Wendy
announced. Heather sniggered and shook her head. “Get real!” “You never know,
we just might find something creepy at spirit cave.” “Yeah, like creepy spiders
and their death ray webs.” “I’m serious!” Said Kathy, getting rather cross with
Heather and her smug remarks. “What kind of creepy things?” Wendy asked. “Well
legend has it that an old wicked witch, who knew the secret of the cave,
revived by magic invisible unintelligent creatures.” “Now that sounds creepy,”
Heather said at last. “That’s not all,” Sally said, “ Apparently these
creatures captured people.” “What for?” Heather asked with a shiver. Sally
shrugged. “Nobody knows for sure, but their victims were never seen again.” “I
also discovered,” Sally continued. “That a native American Shaman used his
special powers to protect the people and trap the witch and the evil spirits
within the cave. Now, comes the interesting part!” “What! What!” Cried Kathy
with excitement. “The Shaman no longer dwells within the cave. He disappeared
when the cave was opened to the public.” The group of friends stood in silence
for a moment. It was Kathy who interrupted the moment.
“Why don’t we explore the legend further and find out if it’s true or not?”
Asked Kathy with a wicked grin. The rest of the group shook their heads in
agreement.
