Bickering

~~~~~
“Over here!” Ron heard his best friends yell from across the train station. He had just been looking for them. They were all on their way to their seventh year of Hogwarts.
As he approached Harry and Hermione, he saw a toad hopping in front of him. ‘Neville spends half his life looking for that dumb toad.’ he thought to himself with a chuckle.
He was really looking forward to going to school this year–except for the N.E.W.T.S, of course. He just wouldn’t think about that for a while. His thoughts were on a certain bushy-haired friend of his. He’d been thinking about her a lot lately. And besides, she would be thinking about the exhausting tests enough for the both of them.
“Oy! What’s taking you so long?” Harry yelled, snapping him out of his trance.
He hurried over to them. “Sorry about that. Hope you don’t mind that I couldn’t ask you over for the holidays, Harry. Mum and Dad said something about it being safer with the Muggles. Merlin knows why. Anyway, they were acting funny all summer over Percy being a bastard. It gets worse every year. Don’t know why they still care about that prat.”
“Ron, that’s awful! He’s their son!” Hermione cried, “And he’s your brother.”
“You just don’t know Percy.” Ron answered.
Hermione rolled her eyes and opened her mouth as if to say something.
“Don’t get into another fight now, save it for the train. We only have a couple more minutes to get on,” Harry said, exasperated.
They boarded the train, Hermione giving Ron a look that said this wasn’t over.
After the sorting feast, they headed to the common room quickly to get the good seats by the fire.
“I’m so glad that we’re back in school. I’ve been wanting to go to the library for ages. There’s some Potions stuff I wanted to look up for the N.E.W.T.S.”
‘Here we go,’ Ron thought, smiling to himself.
“What?” Hermione asked at the smirk on his face.
“Nothing.” Ron said.
“Tell me.” Hermione demanded.
“I just found it amusing that you were already studying for the N.E.W.T.S. It’s so very...you.”
“Well Ron, you should be too. I mean, they’re only the most important tests we’ll ever take.”
“Thanks for taking the pressure right off,” he said sarcastically.
“Well maybe if there’s some pressure, you’ll study harder,” Hermione retorted.
“I give up,” Ron seceded, throwing his hands in the air in defeat.
“Do you two ever talk like normal people, as in without bickering?” Harry asked with a sigh.
“Nope.” said Ron, and he walked over to Harry to throttle him in Wizard’s Chess.
