Randell Van Alst

The above picture shows Randell Van Alst, the founder of Van Alst Spirit Investigations, at the St. James Hotel in Cimarron, New Mexico, contacting and researching one of the haunted site’s many ghosts. 40 spirits are said to haunt the historic hotel.

Born on March 19, 1965 in a small farmhouse in the petite town of McCutchenville, Ohio. He was the fifth, in an original family of six children. Randell has had a lifetime of experiences of the spirit life. His place of birth, a two story dwelling, once a log cabin, was built on sacred ground, on the site of a Mohawk Indian burial cemetery. This invasion of their spirit rights has made the site quite active.

In reaction to the taking of their land, two pioneer settlers were brutally murdered inside the cabin, leaving their blood soaked into the wood beams of the foundation. Over the exact spot, Randell and his twin sister, were born. Throughout his childhood, he experienced countless unexplained phenomena, in the house, on the property, and around the entire farm site. He was led to several areas, in which he found sacred stones of Indian graves.

As he aged into his teens, he left the property, never forgetting his youth, and what he experienced. Into his adult life, Randell moved around the country, encountering unworldly happenings everywhere he went. Contaminated in the ways of the flesh, he decided that was time to make a choice. Either go by the way of man, of by the teachings of the lord, Jesus Christ, and go by way of the spirit. He started reading the Bible and praying to God for help.

As he sought an answer, he soon found out, that to see the "Spirit," you must be in Spirit, from the "Soul" out.

Belief simply wasn't enough. As a young man, Randell happened upon a town in southern Arizona, called Tombstone. What took place in the next 72 hours would change his life forever. He saw the town, not of its current day status, but as the haunted unrest of human error.

His research into haunted activity has stretched over ten years, studying our history in mankind, as well as spectral activity, and its meaning. With well over 250 on-site spiritual investigations, he has listened in Spirit, keeping that, as his #1 tool in ghost research. He soon discovered that the paranormal population far exceeds that of the human population.

His first book, "Ghosts in Reality: the Unexplained truth about Hauntings in our World today", was inspired by his findings from the investigations. The book was approved for publishing, and is now available in bookstores and online. The book taps into: the ghost world / onsite investigations / what the Bible says about ghosts / 50 most haunted sites / what to do if you live in a haunted house / why science can't prove ghosts exist / amazing pictures of spirits / much, much more.

Soon afterwards, he founded "Van Alst Spirit Investigations", (V.S.I.), to help people deal with, and understand the haunted world around us. All advice is given freely. Advice on investigations / ghosts / spirit world / hauntings / help / forum / other unexplained subjects. You are welcome to visit V.S.I.'s website at:

This books taps into: the "human" ghost / traveling in a different dimension / evil spirits / the power of faith / America: worlds most haunted / spirit photographs / much, much more. The project is complete, and being reviewed at this time.

His third book: "Investigating Haunted New Mexico", This book is devoted to one of the most haunted states on American soil. New Mexico is the place of subject. It's violent past; it's place in American history, as well as its paranormal residents. Over a hundred investigations have been conducted throughout New Mexico by VSI. From the town of Cimarron, “The Cowboy capital of Northern New Mexico,” the hauntings of the town of Lincoln, the ghosts of White Oaks, the miners of Dawson, the state’s most haunted mansions, theaters, graveyards, even our streets and highways. Those executed, (legal or otherwise), as well as many other ghost towns, their stories, and why they continue to “haunt” us. Information on book releases will be updated on the website as soon the publisher informs us, on the VSI “News” page.
