About Tulsa

So you wanna know more about Tulsa and some of Oklahoma huh?

Well, you've come to the right place!!!

Short History About Oklahoma

If you like, or are interested in Native American history, Oklahoma is the place to be. It was called "Indian Territory" until it became a state in 1907. Five indian tribes-the Choctaw, Chickasaw, Cherokee, Seminole, and Creek Indians, were forced to relocate there from the southeastern part of the United States, in the 1830's by the U.S. Army.

On April 22, 1889, it became Oklahoma territory. A gun was shot so that the settlers could go ahead and claim their land. They became known as "sooners", and today, Oklahoma is nicknamed "The Sooner State."
