Untitled #3

It seemed like only a moment, though it must have been longer.
I still have the blisters from where your hands
brushed mine And the only thought I remember having is
"I wonder if this could last forever..."

You didn't say a word.
Instead you watched me in silence with a smile
Circling me around the floor as we passed the other couples.
I'm not sure my feet touched the ground
Though they must have
And I can't say for certain that my head wasn't high
in the stratosphere
Caressing the clouds
Though it couldn't have been.

You didn't say a word.
I'm sure you knew my thoughts, but you merely smiled
And waltzed me around the floor
And when the song ended, a moment after it began
You stepped back and bowed,
Pointed to the stars and kissed my hand
Before walking away.

And I didn't say a word
Though I wish I had.
