Memory Parades

There is a point inside me
there is a place I go
for silence, for peace, for understanding and
acceptance
there comes a time when time just fades away
and I'm left here with memory parades
watching people come and go, watching life start and end
and everything between

I come from a place that you can't touch
I stand surrounded
guarded
safe from you
putting words and dirty looks between us
buliding a mountain of space
as sure as space can be
I evenly resent you
my intruder of the memory parades,
my magician who can vanish
at the soonest inconvenience

the memory parades come marching
time continues walking
I watch you go running
and life continues incessantly
as I sit my turn
out
