Jason Jeffery
Speak to me your darkest fear
Whisper that which terrifies
The night sings songs we hear
Enraptured in unearthly cries.
Tales once spoken to a child
Creatures traipsing just outside
Never tamed always wild
As I shiver nowhere to hide.
Claws scrapping across the door
Rending wood to splintered shreds
Inside my mind screams no more
My fear alive and well fed.
Darkness shrouds the room around
Howls of victory pierce the mood
Brutal paws stroke the ground
Jaws salivate in need of food.
Noises illuminate the shadowed room
Painting a picture in black and white
This creature my impending doom
Its stench of death my unholy fright.
Thoughts of life pass my eyes
Fetid breath streaks my face
Strength fails as I realize
Tonight I leave this earthly place.
