Former Karen - Jennifer Hammon - shines in Tinseltown
The day of this Soaps In Depth interview, Jennifer Hammon was on her way to an audition for a pilot, and, says Karen Wexler No. 2, that’s her full-time occupation these days. "There was a new character on BEVERLY HILLS 90210 [this season], and it was down to me and another girl," she reveals. "It was very exciting, but I didn’t get it."
"Independents" Day
Next, the actress did another indie, a comedy titled Artie. "It’s about a college guy who’s in love with this girl," explains the co-star, who plays the lead’s best bud. "But he has uncontrollable flatulence when he gets nervous."
Friends Till The End
In fact, Hammon is sorry that she listened to her then-manager’s advice and left PC after only two years. "I would have stayed at least another year, which would have given me time to play out the storyline," she observes. "I miss having a job to go to every day."
What If… ?
Quotables
"John and I just rescued a dog from the pound."

Don’t cry for the plucky Florida native, though. Since leaving PC last July, she’s been plenty busy beefing up her resume. First, in August, she filmed the independent movie Hour of Valour, with Cliff Robertson. "I played this young reporter who was really an FBI agent, so I got to kill the bad guys," she reveals, adding with a grin. "It was fun!"
As busy as Hammon has been, she does miss her old PC castmates. "The indie experience was great, but it was so quick that I didn’t get to know people," she admits, noting that she and her soap peers bonded "because we all started at once in the same place without any egos."
Hammon isn’t wallowing in regret by any means. "But if someone were to ask me back to PC today," she confesses, "I’d do it."
"PC really has taken Karen in a different direction."
