"Ronald McDonald Children's Charities of Canada (RMCC) is an organization
with a simple objective: to help children in need. It is committed to
assisting community oriented organizations who focus on improving the
quality of life for children and families of children with life-threatening
or chronic illness and disabilities. RMCC has funded many diverse programs
across Canada. A cornerstone and key beneficiary of RMCC's commitment to
helping children and their families is Ronald McDonald House. Established
in twelve major centres across Canada, Ronald McDonald House provides a
home-away-from home for families of seriously ill children being treated in
nearby children's hospitals. Each house is independently owned and operated
by a community based organization. RMCC provides a seed grant to each new
Canadian Ronald McDonald House and assists with expansions and improvements.
Ronald McDonald children's Charities of Canada has granted over $17
million to the Ronald McDonald Houses and hundreds of other local
children's charities across Canada. More than 964 grants through the
years have helped improve the quality of life for close to 450,000
special needs kids."
