Here you will find information on the Beast Machines toyline.

Please note that reviews are in a separate section (see the menu below). Note that in the tables, a name in 'inverted commas' means that it has not yet been confirmed as the official name. A '?' in the availability fields means that I suspect a toy's release but have had no information to confirm it, in which case I would welcome information (see e-mail link on menu below).

Beast Machines 1999-2000 (US)

The original series of Beast Machines toys was released in late 1999 in the US, mid 2000 in the UK. New toys were released up until the end of 2000 in the US when the 'Battle for the Spark' line took over. This line took a lot of criticism, which may be an indirect result of the criticism of the TV show. Several of the early Maximal designs were shunned by most. Lack of similarity between the show and toy models was met with heavy criticism (although the show designs are based off the toy, so this may be attributed to Mainframe), as were some of the decisions concerning the toy sizes.

Beast Machines: Battle for the Spark 2000-? (US)

This line came out in the US in late 2000. Basically following the same design concepts as the original series, this subline has a 'unifying' spark based gimmick, whch appears at this point to mean that the spark crystal doubles as a trigger for some sort of action feature, probably a missile launch. Hasbro appears to be using this subline to bring out some toys that bear a stronger resemblance to the show versions, and to rescue the Beast Machines range from the heavy criticism that has plagued its existance. With only a few of this range out so far, details of the line are sketchy.
