Trick Definitions
Acid Drop S. Slow or standing jump or drop from one flat surface to a much
lower flat surface. See Chris Garret.
Acid Soul S/V. Front foot in royale, back in soul. Similar to a soul (see
soul), but place the forward skate on its outside edge.
Air S/V. To jump or launch into the air,. to leave the skating surface.
Alley-oop S/V. 1. To turn into a trick in the opposite direction of that which you
are carving. 2. Most often an 180-degree revolution. On vert the most common
form of alley-oop is to carve in the unnatural direction while spinning natural.
Alley-cop soul S. An alleyoop rotation into a backwards soul grind.
Andrecht (an drakt), V. Invert in which the boot is grabbed behind the back by
the same hand.
Ass wipe V. When re-entering the ramp in the forward direction, both toes tap
the deck, then both heels tap the deck.
Back Flip V. To rotate body head over heels, 360 degrees backwards (wait 'tii
end of show).
Backside S/V. A grind done with your back to the rail or curb.
Backslide S. Forward foot and leg raised and grabbed with the back foot in
royale position, sliding sideways.
Bio S/V. A flat spin in which the body is parallel to the ground.
Blindside S. Anytime - when rotating to/onto a rail - you lose sight of the rail.
Brainless V. A backwards flip
Cab S/V. One full revolution begun and completed while traveling, and facing,
backwards. Named after skateboarder Steve Caballero.
Camel Toe V. To hit both toes on the deck of the ramp while in air.
Christ Air V. To air with arms spread like Jesus on the cross.
Contortoise V. Similar to a gumby, but keeping the un-grabbed leg straight.
Grab the inside of the foot.
Coping Stall V. To stop up on coping.
Corkscrew S/V. Inverted bio 540.
Cross Rocket S/V. A rocket air in which legs are crossed and straight, with
one hand grabbing the bottom foot.
Custard Chucker V. Handiess miller flip.
Disaster S/V. To air and, just before entering the ramp, land on the coping and
spin into the ramp. On street, launch to a grind.
Drop-in S/V. Standing entry into a ramp.
Eggplant V. One-handed invert performed with the opposite arm than normal.
Fakie S/V. To travel backwards.
Fahryergnugen (for fig nyoo gen), S. a frontside or backside style grind where,
on the front foot, both the frame and the outside of the boot are grinding. Can
also be dscribed as a reverse royale.
Farside Grind (for sfd grind), S. To jump over- and almost past-a grind, then
lock on the outside, or farside, of the rail or grind.
Fastback A name for a backside backslide that only Phil Riley uses.
Fishbrain A top-side makio.
Five Forty S/V. One and a half revolutions. (360+180).
Gumby S/V. An air facing straight up with back arched and knees bent,. grab
one Jeg behind the bacl< with same-side hand.
Gumby Slide (gumlbd sl'id), V. Doing a gumby with the free leg grinding along
the coping in topside soul position.
Half-Cab S/V. A 180 initiated while traveling baci<wards. One half of a full
revolution while traveling backwards. Named after skateboarder Steve
Cabellero.
Hip-Hop V. Hopping from invert to invert as your body travels sideways.
Ho Ho V. Two-handed invert or hand stand on the coping or deck. See
Builetproof ("Ho Ho Joell).
Inside-out Grab S/V. Grab the outside of the foot by reaching in between the
legs then out and under leg. As]< R i ley.
Intelligence Air S/V. Similar to a Liu Kang air, except upper body is twisted
and looking down.
Invert V. Hand plant with one hand on coping, before re-entering the ramp.
Invert to Fakie V. Same as invert, but land fakie in the ramp.
Japan S/V. Air with both legs bent off to the same side while reaching around
and underneath the top leg to grab the top of the bottom foot.
Judo S/V. To bend one leg, bring that foot in and up towards the body, and
then grab it with the opposite hand.
Kind Grind S. Alley-oop topside mizou.
Forty Ounce S. A crouched heeltoe 360 while shuffling your feet. Dreadlocl<s
optional. See Hardline.
Front Flip (frunt flip), S/V. Just what it says - rotating the body forward a full
360 degrees.
Makio Grind S/V. One foot, is loci<ed in soul position, the other foot is
grabbed.
McFlip V. Front flip with a 180 degree twist.
McTwist An inverted 540 performed in the halfpipe. Named for skateboarder
Mike McGill.
McUgly A fakie 540 hand@plant. Named for Danny Ross.
Melvin V. To hit both heels simulitaneously on the coping while facing skyward.
Method S/V. An air in which both legs are bent behind the body and a foot is
grabbed. On vert, trick must be performed bio. Check it out, bra - a Jo n
Tyson invention (said fast). Dude.
Miller Flip S/V. Back flip with a hand plant on coping half-way through.
Misty Flip S/V. Snowboard trick similar to a corkscrew, only less of a spin
and more of a flip.
Mizou Grind S/V. Type of grind stance where front foot is in soul position and
trailing foot is in backside.
Mute S/V. A type of grab in which @e hand travels outside the same knee,
across the shins, and to the opposing skate.
Nine Hundred S/V. A spin with two and a half revolutions.
Nosepick V. After doing a 180, tap one toe onto coping.
Pop Tart Cab to invert.
Porn Star S. Alley-oop trick with forward foot royale, back foot soul.
Freshness counts.
Power Invert V. Twohanded air to invert disaster.
Rasta pasta a grabbed airwalk (grab one foot while doing splits in the air). A
ballerina.
Revert S/V. To rotate into a trici<, do the trick, then continue rotating in the
same direction.
Rewind S/V. To rotate out of a trick in a direction opposite that which you
rotated into it.
Rocket S/V An air in which the legs are straight and one arm is reached across
the body to grab the opposite foot. Feet should be above the head.
Roll Around V. To roll out onto a deck and roll back in without stopping.
Royale S. Frontside grind where the back foot is angled so that the outside
edge of both the frame and boot grind.
Sad Plant invert while grabbing judo.
Seth Slide S/V. To slide on a flat surface sideways with feet in royale position.
Shifty S/V. Your torso rotates one way, your legs rotate the other.
Slash Stance S/V. Feet spaced very far apart. Named for Guitarist Slash.

Stale Fish See Brooke.
Stale Japan S/V. Air with both legs bent off to the same side while reaching
around and underneath the top leg to grab the back of the bottom foot.
Stance S. Position body is in, usually on a grind.
Statue S. To be absolutely still when executing a grind.
Stub Grind S/V. Much like a soul grind, but the forward foot is on the inside
sole.
Switch Stance S/V. Ever try skateboarding in sand? It's very impossible.
Suicide V. Similar to a gumby, only use both hands to grab both skates. Also
called the Flying Dutchman. Where is Scott Sherman?
Two Seventy S/V. Three quarters of a revolution. Having launched from fakie
to 270 the skater landed frontside on the rail.
Taipan V. Same as a Japan, only grabbing the opposite foot.
Ten Eighty Three Big Mac combos. Three 360s.
Three Sixty S/V. One full rotation.
Topside S/V. Same as a farside soul, only done on ramp coping or the top of a
planter (a 90 degree angle).
Transfer (trans fur'), S/V. To move from one surface or object to another.
Unity (yoo' ne tee), S/V. A front-side grind done with your legs crossed and
feet rolled over similar to a royale.
Variation (ver' ee aa' shen), S/V. To change from trick to trick or stance to
stance.
Wall Ride S. To roll along the face of a wal I.
X-Grind S. A trick so nerdy it was named after Christofe Gaynor.
Zero Spin S. A fakie to fakie to launch.
