AXES (ONE HANDED)
Title: 'Axes' // Khane <19> Fri Dec 25 02:33:52 1998
Hand axe , then sharp axe then bigbladed axe then killer axe (i think) then
choppingweapon, that is all i can think of atm.
End of note number 156.
Title: 'RE: Last' // Silentdeath <19> Fri Dec 25 03:43:19 1998
Tomahawk in there somewhere, between killer and choppingweapon I think.
End of note number 157.
Title: 'Axes' // Khane <19> Fri Jan 8 02:40:45 1999
Ok axes are something like this
Khane thinks he already posted this but anyway...
easiest-hand axe skill 0-20
easy-sharp axe skill 20-35
easy-bigbladed axe skill 30-40ish
med-killer axe 50ish
med-diff-tomahawk skill 60ish (i think)
diff-choppingweapon also 60ish (i am not really sure)
i have never seen a unique axe and there are not many high lvl axes around
only 2Handed ones
Hope that helps
Title: 're: last' // Undeadguy <19> Fri Jan 8 02:52:16 1999
Yer pretty much right. Tho, I thought Bigbladed and handaxe were the other
way around. I dunno. Oh, for me, a human fighter, choppingweapon was the best
axe I could find, ps till 60 skill, then took a drop to excellent. Killer axe
started at excellent, and stayed there. I don't like axes, and I'm really not
looking forwards to advancing that skill.
End of note number 169.
Title: 'another axe' // Steerpike <18> Fri Jan 8 18:01:05 1999
is the dwaven mining pick, which is around about as effective as
choppingweapon. i think it mat be best used in conjunction with piercing
attacks (cld be very wrong)

AXES (TWO HANDED)
The lowest skill 2h axe is the bronze axe from the ildarian
song mage place. The next one you should use is Carcera's
wicked half-moon shaped axe. The frost giant's huge
battleaxe is ok for high skills, but Carcera's is better.
Then of course there's the Mighty Battleaxe. I mighta forgot
one, since it is 3:20 am here in new york, but i think
that's all of em.

also some t-hunt axes are 2handed, just try em in the shop and it will tell
you if it takes 2 hands to wield
CLUBS
Title: 'Clubs, And dwarves vs orc.' // Storm <5> Sat Nov 21 15:17:49 1998
Club 0-20 fishing pole 20 -40 crude club 40-60 Ill tell yuo when I get there.
Dwarves Have a parry max of 90+ and riposte of 85... Orcs Have 1 less str and
2 more dex.. dex raises those like ...half of str..Basiclly same.. dex parry
better tho

Title: 'easy clubs' // Jewelbug <19> Sat Nov 21 19:53:00 1998
try the bar-bell if you can get hold of it...
its PS at about 40 skill with decent dex and has the advantage of being
great at disarming as well.
Plus ya really can't beat that look ;)
Title: 'Re: clubs, a while back.' // Trippy <17> Thu Nov 26 06:04:28 1998
Okay.. here's the basic rundown for what I used with my cleric with regards
to clubs.
Frying pan from 0-10.
Gnarled club from 10-25 (simple mace works too).
Heavy/nasty/iron mace from 25-55.
Mace of crushing from 55-70 or 75.
Heavy Jewel encrusted/trunk/kraky/desty/etc from then on.
Hope that helps ya.. worked fairly nicely fer me.
End of note number 58.
Title: 'RE: Clubs' // Silentdeath <19> Fri Nov 27 22:51:50 1998
Personally I do it like this. Pan/Fishing pole 0-15, large bone 15-25,
gnarled 25-35, moc 35-75, hjem/desty/kraky, whatever from there up. pref hjem
and desty, kraky, ssm, and trunk are still tuff to hit bit stuff with at 75.
Title: 'clubs' // Ishan <18> Fri Jan 8 05:31:49 1999
Alright I need this info for a webpage I am making.. Now I am new to being a
fighter and all.. All my other chars are mages...
So here is my club skill list... I think this is pretty accurate but if there
is any mistakes can someone notify me?
skill 1-20 Rusty Shovel
Skill 20-30 Gnarled Club
skill 30-45 Heavy mace
Skill 45-60 Mace Of Crushing
Skill 60-75 Large wooden club
Skill 75-85 Heavy Jewel Encrusted Mace
Skill 85-90 Krakadoom, SSM, or Tree trunk
Worked for me.. So should work just fine

Title: 're: last' // Hektor <19> Tue Feb 16 09:38:38 1999
Being a dwarf cleric with a 94 club, I find MOC hits more often but without
as much power as your jmace, however I do find that I tend to miss alot with
higher level kills (the disadvantages to being dwarven).
I also find the Destructor to be less effective than other non unique weapons
such as the huge warhammer *ponder* (might have to test that theory someday).
Hektor, Breaker of Horses <--- trying to look thoughtfull but fails.
End of note 243.
Title: 'RE: Last' // Silentdeath <19> Tue Feb 16 18:23:59 1999
I'll test spiked shield later, as for desty vs huge warhammer, I prefer desty
meself (96 club as a cleric.) For starters, desty is 1 handed, andt the +1
dex is nice for tanking purposes, although I do notice a weird trend with
desty, I fall into slumps sometimes, I've got like 4 screens without hitting
a burnham guard (banded mail ones), with 96 club. Some random thoughts... but
yeah, deff. trunk for soloing, in a party with a trunking basher, I usually
go for a lighter weapon and some armour, but trunk then too works great, you
can make better xp but the cash isn't as good. Just some random thoughts,
thunk-out almost as badly as they were formatted.
End of note number 244.
Title: 'last' // Murmansk <19> Wed Feb 17 05:32:53 1999
HJEM - heavy jewel encrusted mace, is in orc mountain.
trunks are on giant ogres way up north, around the ranger camp.
thats about it on non-unique ones..
End of note number 246.
Title: 'last' // Chickpea <19> Wed Feb 17 10:55:30 1999
and there's the one from the scythe quest which evals (used to anyway) same
as Kazarov's
End of note number 247.
Title: 're: big clubs' // Hektor <19> Wed Feb 17 21:18:22 1999
Just to add to the above...
Huge warhammer can be found in steading when Krakadoom is out.
Mighty Maul (I think thats what it is called) is found on the Giant Stone
Golem in the Siklah pit when Stone Smasher Maul is out.
Also with regards to tree trunks... giant ogres only have them on some
reboots... they seem to pop up every 3 or 4 reboots on average.
With regards to missing slumps: I've gotten into ruts as well with desty and
other clubs where i'll miss time after time. Siometimes running out of the
room then re-entering solves the problem. Its probably some random thing
going on here (maybe the club gods aren't listening? *boggle*)

CURVED BLADE
Title: 'curved' // Undeadguy <19> Sat Dec 12 07:53:17 1998
Wakizashi is short sword, highest curved blades I found were Orc sabre, and
Katana. Easiest I think is a snickersnee, or a hooked sword. To be honest,
curved blade isn't really a weapon with much use to it. You kinda have to
look hard to find one. Oh, and Cos' long katana is a pretty good midlevel
one.
undie
End of note number 121.
Title: 'C blades' // Dali <5> Sat Dec 12 14:32:21 1998
btw, cos has an alright mid level c blade..also sabre from swordswoman near
asty and the scimitar from the guard near optio, orc Queen has an alright
scimitar and i once found a backsword that was a curved blade that would be
good round skill 30.
just thought I might try and help =)
End of note number 122.
Note: If you're looking for curved blades, there are multiple types of scimitars
available in the desert nomad area in the far south to try as well.
EXOTIC
Exotics include: Onix, Horn of Power; a knight's tail, a
boomerang (from Sanal), a shuriken (from Dalair seller), a bible.
Title: 'RE: Last' // Silentdeath <19> Mon Oct 26 20:57:41 1998
My personal suggestion is either pick up a good tank and get staff up to 55
or so, or do the same thing with a shuriken or other exotic weapon, then use
mystic sword once you've gotten it about as high as it'll go (35 or so, I
think).
FLAILS
Title: 'flails' // Stim <16> Wed Nov 18 01:12:24 1998
anyone know what the best flail to start with is?
Title: 'flails' // Bluebird <6> Wed Nov 18 03:32:45 1998
thunt flails or am I wrong?
Title: 're:cat o' nine tails' // Methos <19> Mon Apr 13 21:23:37 1998
It used to be exotic, pretty sure it was switched to flail, since it is a
whip.

KNIVES
Title: 're: Knifes' // Undeadguy <19> Tue Feb 16 03:18:54 1999
Only thing I noticed is that there are no high skill ones at all. Stone
dagger which is the best one I can find, and same with Huge nail file, are
both ps around the 51 ranger, and then once they get to about 71 get worse
and worse. So, now the best knife I can find is a stone dagger, which is fine
for me at 89 skill.
End of note number 243.
Title: 'knives' // Thothamon <19> Thu Feb 18 03:57:51 1999
Anyone know a good progression for knives/daggers?
I know stone dagger is the best I could find and before that the
small whitling knive was ps...around skill 50...before that all I used was
gleaming dagger.
Ooo..ya I know...big help *shrug*

POLEARMS
Title: 'Polearms' // Jewelbug <19> Wed Jan 20 19:50:29 1999
*ponder*
Trying to remember the progression i used to advance polearm...
I'd stick with razor-sharp till about 60.
(with polearms, bare in mind that just because a more damaging weapon is
Perfectly Suited, it doesn't mean its a better choice for you...)
Huge halberd (bokwa) is PS at about 50-55 but i wouldn't start using it
until 60-65.
Then you're into the big guns. Decent Scythe (Glock) is the high end
non-unique Polearm. Good at 70+
PoleAxe is Good at 70+
Awesome Scythe (the big Gun) comes into its own at 80
I'd avoid the Pikestaff and Malign PikeStaff altogether (Giant Troll).
PikeStaff is ps at about the same range as Razor-sharp but is less damaging
and Malign seems to be a total waste of time. (i may be wrong here but
decent scythe seems to be a better weapon and Malign gives a penalty to
int or wis)
So progress from Hoe (arcadia), to halberd (stronghold), to razor-sharp
(burnham), to Huge (bokwa), to Decent (Glock).
Jb
Title: 'last' // Ionstar <19> Mon Jan 11 06:39:44 1999
hoe from 0>30, 35
halberd from 30,35>55
from 55 the uniques are perfect, awesome, decent scythes, orcish poleaxe,
malign pikestaff, huge halberd sharp halberd etc.
use the uniquies all the way up to 100.
Title: 'last' // Trippy <19> Mon Mar 22 05:01:06 1999
Yeah, there are two different hoes. I think the Arcadia one is actually an
axe - could be wrong tho. Havent really done much with polearms in a while.
End of note number 246.

Title: 'Re: Polearms' // Briar <16> Mon Mar 22 05:11:41 1999
Thanks about the info on the hoes. Been told by several fighters that there
are indeed two hoes. I did find that the 600 coin halberd evals ps for low
level polearm..at least level 19.
End of note number 247.
Title: 'low-level polearms' // Metatron <15> Mon Mar 22 14:46:19 1999
as a paladin, i found it quite hard raising polearm between about 25-40.
the arcadia hoe is a bit week and the 600 coin halberd is a bit difficult to
use.
i found the quarry poleaxe was the best bet, although it is rarely used.

RAPIERS
The following note is from Sudian, who graciously sent it to me for your benefit.
Rapier list
0-10 A stick / dart
10-20 awl / sewing needle / turquoise dart
20-25 thin poniard
25-30 bugbear rapier
30-60 thin rapier
60-70 vfr
70-80 jdr
80+ crystal blade / sword of gilian
note that the numbers are all relative and don't need to be followed exactly. Also,
the standard rapier I have never found a use for. It parries worse than thin rapier
and I've never seen it go ps for anybody. Blue Steel Rapier I don't
know the location of and have only seen in shops once.
as for thunt rapiers, they're pretty low, and parry poorly. You might
consider using magic rapier in 20s and 30s if you can find one, but
other than that and maybe using rapier of the defender a little higher,
I wouldn't touch thunt rapiers with a 20 foot pole.
Title: 'Rapiers for lanth str 16 dex 18 skill 67' // Yuban <16> Tue Aug 25 00:03:07 1998
blue steel rapier for lanth very difficult weapon to use, avg amount of
damage, splendid for parry, excellent weapon to use. (for my skill 85 at str
16 dex 15 its fine.).
Title: 'Rapier's cont'd' // Yuban <16> Tue Aug 25 00:04:46 1998
Very fine rapier: very difficult to use, avg damage, nearly perfect for
parrying, excellent for Lanth to use.
Title: 'rapier last' // Yuban <16> Tue Aug 25 00:06:10 1998
Jeweled rapier: extemely difficult weapon to use, avg damage, nearly perfect
for parrying, excellent for Lanth to use.
SHORTSWORDS
Title: 'RE rangers-we suck-last' // Khane <19> Thu Feb 4 08:21:02 1999
ok shortsword progress me thinks
and btw shortswords are nice weapon sometimes
0-15 wooden sword
15-30 batterd sword
30-40 shortsword fro kniggets
40-55 bastard sword
55+ losoth, wolfblade, ebon blade
btw Ebon Blade is a good shortsword
End of note number 242.
Title: 'last 3' // Ionstar <19> Thu Feb 4 13:01:46 1999
Khane, the bastard sword you put down... the only 2 bastard swords I know of
are the ones from nepeth, cityguards and the sheriffs, which i think eval
diff but they are both longswords, not shortswords. Id probably pick sharp
shortsword or a silver shortsword for 40-55
End of note number 243.
Title: 'sword' // Undeadguy <19> Fri Feb 5 01:34:50 1999
Also, Plain sword is a good shortsword, for about 40-61 skill, I think. I
started with 54, and it was ps till about 61.

Title: 're sword' // Bboys <19> Fri Feb 5 02:26:20 1999
Plain sword is a good shortsword, not exactly sure on skill but it is
excellent for me
with skill 33. Also concerning Khane's shortsword list. I thought only
knights could wield the
knight shortsword?
*shrug* Bboys.
End of note number 247.
Title: 'last few' // Khane <19> Fri Feb 5 08:13:24 1999
Anyone can use shortsword for knights
I stand corrected on the bastard sword
Orcish sword also can slot in some where ther around skill 20-30

STAVES
Title: 're: staves' // Undeadguy <19> Wed Dec 9 21:30:57 1998
Geesh. This is a hard one. Uh, crooked staff, light staff, long staff, um,
white iron stick?, carved staff, bo, Tetsubo?
Thats a general guess, but I know the last couple are right.
Title: 'Staves' // Atris <14> Wed Dec 9 21:51:57 1998
Think rosewood staff from Drute's tomb is ps for skills around 40-45 or so.

Title: 're: undeadguy' // Fluiddruid <19> Wed Dec 9 22:31:54 1998

maybe 55-60?

Title: '...' // Thothamon <19> Fri Feb 12 22:04:54 1999

End of note number 251.
Title: '..more' // Thothamon <19> Tue Feb 16 02:33:04 1999
keepin a list eh? well ok..at skill 50 a elf mage gets ex for an eval on
Glimmer..rosewood..Zarkens sceptre...and vicious staff..white iron stick get
ps.
End of note 249.
Note: White iron stick has been consistenly evalled as ps between 42-50.
Above that, Glimmer or Zarkan's sceptre: vicious staff hits hard but evals poorly.
