through fields of lilacs as she strayed
the sounds of laughter while she played
she spent her days where she called home
the meadow where the lilacs roam
she hides from those who breech her trust
treating her in ways unjust
seeking refuge being alone
in meadows where the lilacs roam
growing up, her pain-filled heart
yearning for a brand new start
the child now, a woman grown
sets off to make her life, her own
fighting off her memories past
hoping to break free at last
she struggles hard to ease her cares
but cannot hide the scars she wears
innocence beaten from her soul
her battered body once was whole
letting solice takes its toll
in meadows where the lilacs roam
the woman now has made her home
the countryside where flowers roam
and in the midst where they have grown
a lovely lilac stands alone
