WIL ANDERSON - Who Wants To Be A Wilionaire?

5 April 2000, Inpress, Thuy On

Wil Anderson has been a seasoned performer for a while now, with a big profile created by breakfast radio, TV guest appearances and ice-cream ads so his self-confidence almost borders on cocky. He's no longer a scared comedy virgin clutching onto his mike for protection, hoping for a small titter of appreciation, but a master player, expecting (and receiving) rapturous applause. Anderson's latest show is loosely based on money matters and is simply a vehicle for him to get stuck into that inane game show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? as well as the world's obssession with the rich and famous. Anderson is a strong performer, charismatic and loud, but John Laws, Eddie McGuire and the Popstars show are pretty easy prey. Nonetheless he got chuckles a-plenty for his efforts; his comments about the GST on tampons were particularly welcomed: "If men menstruated, tampons would come in your footy colours with a slab of beer."
