Course Statement:

Manufacturing is an activity based course introducing students to the concepts of manufacturing. In the manufacturing component, students focus on the material processing and management practices used in our free enterprise economic system. Example learning activities include: organize a manufacturing enterprise, design and produce a product, estimate the cost of a product, conduct product research.

As a class we will design and build a group project(s), as if, we were a company coming up with a new product. You are an employee of (whatever you call your company) and you have been asked to start a new company and design a new product that will make a profit for the company. Your success depends on how many products you can sell for the least amount of money.

General Objectives: We will analyze each office in the corporation by reading and evaluating our knowledge of their responsibilities. During this time an enterprise will be formed at a time when the class understands how to form one. Once the material has been read and understood, the class will then begin to either build or purchase a product(s) for sale. The instructor’s responsibility from that point will only be that of a moderator. We will try to get through the material as soon as possible so that the class may devote more time to the corporation.
