How I Became a Moffatt Fan

So you're interested on how I became a Moffatt fan huh? Well, it's quite funny. I guess you can call me a "born again fan"

Let's start out from when I was in the 6th grade. (I'm in 9th now.) I was sorta into country music, sorta not. I liked some of it, but not a lot of it. I was turning to the pop/rock/alternative Top 40 thing which is all I listen to now. One of my best friends was coming to spend the night. She brought this tape over called "The Moffatts." I had no idea who they were at the time. She said she loved this tape and we started listening to it. We listened to it so much that night that we even made up a dance to "The Caterpillar Crawl." (Ok, sounds dorky, I know but we were in the 6th grade!) I loved this tape and this group by the time that she left. I borrowed her tape and made a copy for myself. I even saw the "I Think She Likes Me" video a couple of times. I was listening to the tape constantly. Time went on and I totally grew out of country, so I quit listening to the tape as much also, and then I quit listening to it altogether. (I know.. it's a sad ending to this paragraph, but the stories not over yet!)

Fast foward to late January, 1999. I'm in the 9th grade now, babysitting on a Friday night at house for 2 kids. The kids go to bed and I decide to watch a little TV. I live in Wisconsin, USA so I don't get MuchMusic and they have Digital Cable so they do. I begin to watch it. I watch it for awhile, and then I begin to channel surf. I turn back to MuchMusic and I find myself in about the middle of some music video. I see a young person with long hair, blond in front, so I immediately think Hanson. (Yes, I like them) It's not Hanson. Then I think "*N Sync wannabe's!!" The video looks just like "Tearin' Up My Heart" for a minute or two. Some other boy pops up on the screen with no shirt on also lying on a bed. "Eww, skinny" I think. Then I get a close up of one of the guys with long dark brown hair. I'm thinking "Wait a minute... that guy sorta looks familiar... OH MY GOD IT'S THE MOFFATTS!!!!" Woohoo! They guy I sorta recognized was Bob, and when they finally showed Dave, I knew it was them. They still sorta look the same from when they were younger. I didn't remember there names or anything. I just remembered their music. I couldn't believe it... this definately was NOT country music. (By the way, the video I saw was "Girl Of My Dreams") I listened to it a little more and realize that this song sounds sorta cool. The video ends and sure enough if says it's by The Moffatts. I thought it was totally cool they made a pop/rock comeback. I don't think that much more about the video, until I find myself babysitting there 2 days later on Sunday night. I watch MuchMusic again and think to myself "That'd be cool if I could see that Moffatt video again" then POW! It's like the next video on. (It was fate I tell ya!) Anyways, I catch the whole video and I REALLY like the song, and I find my self mouth-hanging-open-drool-on-my-chin for that one with the long hair and blond streaks in front. When I get home I go and dig up all my old tapes I stashed away somewhere and sure enough, there lies my old Moffatt tape. I listen to it and remember how cute it was and then trying to believe they were the same guys in the music video I saw.

Next thing I know, I'm on the net getting their recent CD's, buying tapes of there preformances in other countries, going on web pages and learning everything there is to know about them. Then I decided to make my own web page (which I am very pround of) and BANG! I'm a Moffatt fan once again. My music taste changed just like the Moffatt's did, so I figure that's gotta be some kinda sign that I was meant to be a fan of their's. So, yeah I've always been a fan, I just sorta took a break for a while, that's all. :) Hope you liked my wonderful story of how I became, and then re-became a Moffatt fan.
