I heard Dale was going to be at the Brown County Arena in Green Bay Wisconsin after reading it in the paper. So of course I had to go. I had never met a driver before so meeting someone as big as Dale would be cool. I couldnt find anyone to go along with me so I had to go by myself. I would have to drive an hour to Green Bay and try and find the arena because I didnt really know my way and I had never driven in Green Bay before. The day was April 17, 1998. Dale had just won his first BGN race a couple weeks earlier. Dale was to be at the arena from 7-8 or 9. I dont really remember. I got home from school around 3:15 and wanted to leave right away so I could get there early because I assumed being Dale Earnhardt Jr would be a large crowd. So I hurried up and got ready not realizing I forgot my camera. Ugh. I was so mad. I left around 4 and it would take about an hour to get to the arena and there was a car show going on there so the doors opened at 5. So I drove down there and ended up getting lost. I stopped at a gas station to get directions. The lady ended up giving me wrong directions. I repeated it to her what she had said and shes like. Yeah. So I went exactly where she told me and I ended up two miles away from where I should have been. I had to stop at another gas station. I finally found the arena and had to pay $3 parking, but I didnt care, I would see Dale Earnhardt Jr. I went in and since Dale wouldnt be there for about another 2 hrs I decided I would go to the bathroom before I stood in line. I then walked around looking at the cars they had not really paying much attention then I found where the line was for Dale. It was about 5:30 when I decided I would stand in line. There was only about 30 people in front of me which kind of surprised me because I thought there would be more. Well more people started arriving and by the time Dale came there was about 500 or more people in line. Well I was waiting in line when I heard over the loud speaker thing that anybody not wearing Dale Earnhardt apparell had to get out of line. It was kind of a cold day so I was wearing my Jeff Gordon jacket and since I couldnt find any Dale Jr stuff at the time and I hadnt had a hat of Dale Sr I wore my Jeff Gordon hat too. Well the people behind me were like, "Oh she has to get out of line," Im like, "Oh come on look im wearing a Dale Earnhardt Daytona 500 champion shirt." Then they were like "ok u can stay". Well it was announced like three times over the loud speaker then after the third time they said they were only kidding. Well I knew they were and there was no way I was going to get out of line. So finally 7 pm arrived. They announced that Dales plane had arrived like 20 minutes earlier or something but he was hungry so they had to stop at McDonalds or something so he could eat...lmao..Finally they announced Dale had arrived at around 7:15.
