Our trip to good ol Texas
So, on Kristie's spring break from school, and my spring break from work, we went to meet Kristie's
friend Tim, or Tavin as she calls him.  We flew out of Madison on March 10th, and arrived in Houston to stay at
our hotel, pictured below.
Don't ever stay here.  Please.  It sucks.
This was the door to our room.  It only had one bed.  Grrrr
This is a picture of the side of the hotel that Kristie took.
This is me, on the balcony, wondering if jumping would get us a room with two beds, haha!
This is the traditional "Kristie on the bed telling me not to take a picture" picture.
Here is the traditional "Katie on the phone" picture.
Here's Kristie making sure that the table is in fact a table, and not some kind of evil spy device...
Kristie on the bench under the palm tree.  We had never seen a palm tree before.
I named him Jake.  Isn't he a pretty palm tree?
This is Kristie jumping on her "bed" which was really a mattress they "found" in storage and threw on the floor.
Look!  It's me!  Jumping on the same "bed" while on hold with Best Buy for half an hour...grrrr
It's Tavin!!!  Wooohoooo!  Oh and Kristie too..hehe.  Tavin was great and put
up with us all week!  He deserves some kind of award for that...
One day while in Texassss we went to the Houston Zoo!  It was fun.  I liked being outside
when it was so warm.  I think we walked around for about 4 hours, trying to see everything....
This explains itself, no?  lol
Welllll....there's an alligator in this here picture.  If you look at the guy standing there, and then
look straight down and just a smidgen to the right...he's there, lurking in the grass.  I swear.
Flamingo's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Yehaw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a picture of the fattest, biggest Mallard's I have ever seen.  On the left is Mr. Mallard,
and on the right, Mrs. Mallard.  They were about the size of geese and jiggled when they waddled.  Ewww!
Another picture of Mr. Mallard swimming in the pond with an unnamed duck pal.  See the
black bird in the upper right hand corner that tried to ruin my picture and didn't succeed?  Ha!  I showed him!
This is a beautiful cat...unfortunately I forgot what it's name was.  He's about the size
of a larger housecat.  The picture doesn't show how pretty he really was.
I love Koi.  I've always wanted a pond in my backyard filled with them.
Ok, so maybe I could try getting a backyard first.  Again, the picture didn't do
them any justice at all, but it at least gives you an idea of how beautiful these fish are.
Some turtles on a log.  There was one trying to get on there, but the other one wouldn't
move, so he had to fall off into the water again....it was so sad.  hehe
Kristie and I loved this sign, so we took a picture.  It was at the exit to the
children's section of the zoo.  The children's section had all the cool stuff in it!
A picture I took of myself when we
got home.  I was trying to waste film.
It's a buffalo skull!!!!  We didn't see it in Texas,
but I felt it carried the southwestern theme thingie....
It's actually my stepmom's.  It has it's own spot on the couch.
It also has a buzzard for a friend!  Wooohooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well....that was it for the pictures.  I had a pretty good time, with the exception
of the entire hotel debacle.  If you really want to know, just ask.  Otherwise just leave
the subject untouched. :)  I know if I ever go back there again, I want to see the Alamo.
A couple of other things too, but you're probably bored with this by now, so I'll just let you
keep surfing!  I'm sorry to say there was no Travel Log on this trip, there just wasn't room for
it on the plane.  I know all of you out there are disappointed, but I promise on the next trip, we'll
make up for it!  Now go and check out my sister's anemic Texas page!  Sign both of our guest-
books too, will ya?  Thanks!
