In the mid 1920's a Mr. Fleishmann offered the City $200,000 toward a harbor,
if the City would match the amount.

He thought the City needed a harbor, and he also wanted a safe haven for his yacht, the "Haida."
Later that year construction began on a detached breakwater,
and the project was completed in 1928.
Where the walkway around the harbor begins, you find a plaque in honor of
Mayor Max Fleischmann, the man responsible for having this harbor build.
We're passing stores on the right.
On the left a dry-dock lift for boats to be hoisted out of the water.
The Harbor Patrol is always ready to do their job.(center)
