Just who the Hell do I think I am?!

You clicked the link, you must want to know something.

I'm a 27 year old single white male. I am short, blonde and blue-eyed. I have two tattoos and four piercings in my ears. I have a BA in Anthropology from Oakland University in Rochester, MI, and a MS in Industrial Archaeology from Michigan Technological Universtiy in Houghton, MI. I currently am a participant in the ORISE program sponsered by Oak Ridge Associated universities, which gives me a stipend to perform archaeology at Fort McCoy, WI, where I currently work. I am an Historical Archaeologist, and I document the historic farm sites on the fort's property. It's the law. In 2000, I am organizing an all-volunteer crewed project to dig a 150 year old mill site.

I live in Tomah, WI, which is safe. and flat. and boring as hell. The nearest movie theatre is 20 miles away. That's all there is to say about that.

Ok, now that you are no longer interested in me, I can talk about what I like. Music is my consuming passion. I play guitar and bass, and screw around on the tenor banjo every now and again. I've played in a few bands. I listen to wide variety of music, and I have a ton of discs.

Currently, my favorite music is reggae and Indie rock. I started out listening to heavy metal as a form of youth rebellion in the '80s. I am from a small town, and no one had heard of Punk yet. When I got to college, my new friends there, especially Dan, turned me on to a wider musical world. Of course, they also turned me on to mind-altering substances as well.

I love movies, but hate watching them by myself, which means I haven't seen a lot since I moved to Wisconsin. I especially like good sci-fi, fantasy, independent films, and especially cheesy b-flicks. I am hopelessly addicted to professional wrestling, drawn in by the sheer absurdity of it all.

I used to paint and make collages, but after getting a career, I have little time for that anymore.

I am an abject failure so far when it comes to women. My friends tell me that I'm the type of guy women are attracted to after they're ready to settle down. The problem is, I'm going to want to run around and have fun if I finally have a serious relationship. I guess I'll see what happens. Any takers?

I am trying to get myself into shape. I have been lifting weights for a couple years, but only recently have seen results since I started the Body-FOR-life program, which I recommend to everyone.

For being a freak, I have a good number of friends, many of which I have a hard time staying in contact with (the ones not yet online. Get out of the Stone Age, you fools!). Many of them are artists and musicians (mostly my friends associated with Houghton, Mi in some form). My college buddies include the BFP, and oddballs like Dan and Sean who took me under their wing. I have a whole other set of buddies from grad school, who I get to see at conferences. They are not my liver's friends, however.

A completely different set of friends I have never even seen. I discovered a neat little web community on the message boards at sorabji.com, where we discuss life, the universe, and nothing in particular. This group is really diverse, but we share a common bond of being FAR FROM NORMAL.

Speaking of far from normal, maybe you are thinking to yourself, "This guy ain't so wierd. Where does he get off calling himself a freak?" Perhaps you'd care to learn more about my professed "religion", the Church of the SubGenius. If you think you have an open mind and well-developed sense of humor, if you think you are strange, wait 'til you get a load of us.

So, what else do you want to know?
