Agfa SCALA is a fantastic film... I mean it's really neat. Here's the short technical side rundown: clear base (non-colored), reasonably high resolution, Good sharpness, grain, excellent tonal gradations. Designed for a specialized silver based, not chromogenic, reversal process. So, you actually get a slide that will last.... practically forever. No color dye fading.
How does it look? Well... It's like discovering a whole new world of photography. If you recognize that color and black and white are entirely separate art forms, you'll quickly appreciate the impact of a SCALA transparency.
The only downside I've found is that I end up paying about $23 after processing for a roll of film. Is it worth it? Probably. It's a nice film.
Note: I was recently told about mailers that you can get from the three labs in the states that process SCALA. These would drop the per roll cost down to about $17, and possibly make me shoot more SCALA.
Something that everyone should know: expensive film does not automatically guarantee good pictures. Expensive film only guarantees that your pictures will cost more. On the other hand, this is a VERY nice film, and I recommend it highly.
No, I don't work for Agfa.... If I did, I'd probably get a discount.
