The former bass player, JJ, now plays a critical role in the Stokens as lead vocalist and a dynamic front man. The change occured on Feburary 15, 1998 when Kyle injured his voice, three weeks prior to their next show. The transition went smoothly because JJ had written most of the lyrics, and it was easier for him to portray the emotion he felt in his heart.
