Because the
assumption that Wisconsin will build no new generation after
the year 2000, is used as the primary justification for the
construction
of the Arrowhead-Weston bulk transmission line, SOUL would like to
keep
you up to date with what is really happening in the state with new
generation plants. Following is a list of new generation from the
Public
Service Commission of Wisconsin (The regulatory body that oversees
the
state's utilities) and the present status as of 2003. The
proposed transmission line can move 600 Megawatts (MW) continuously
or
750 MW for shorter periods of time and would require approximately
4500
acres for it's easement. As a comparison, most plants listed will be
built on thirty acres or less. One MW will supply approximately 500
homes with electricity. Remember any plant shown listed with a date
after 2000, except Rock Gen, does not, nor will ever exist according
to
the two utilities that want this new transmission line as the first
step
towards deregulation, just like California.
