Drawings, Photos, Pressed Herbs and Flowers

Adding imagery to you pages gives your magical purpose a visual form. Add drawings like a Rune that corresponds to the pages theme. Cut out little pictures that you love and add them to a page for more of a "mood setter".

Pressed flowers and Herbs are a wonderful addition to a magickal page. Just think, opening a page up and seeing a perfectly preserved flower inside.

To press flowers and herbs the first thing you have to do is gather them. Try to find ones that are somewhat flat already if you can. If you need to clean them then use a soft brush or duster to get off any dirt sentiment. Find a good place to dry them so they won't be disturbed. A dry place, not damp. Place your chosen herbs and flowers on a large piece of absorbent paper (like paper grocery bags) space them out so you don't crowd them. Then place a layer of paper towels on top and another paper bag. Keep piling up to an inch if you like. Then place heavy books on top or heavy slabs of wood. It will take about six weeks for them to dry and press completely. Check them then and if they seem a bit damp still, wait another week or so. When they are dry, glue them in carefully so you don't ruin any ink or mush the paper. You may want to place a piece of plastic under the page you are gluing on so the moisture from the glue doesn't effect the page underneath. Let the glue dry completely before closing the book.
