Dear Brother,
I heard by the way of home that you was at Mound City and I thought I would drop a few lines to let you know not far off. We arrived here but last night just dark. I don't know how long we will stay here but I expect we will stay some time. When this reaches you, write immediately so I know that you are here yet and I will try to get a pass up there. I don't suppose that you are able to get down here. We have had a bully time since we left Camp Randall. We have not got into any barracks yet here, we are waiting for and III Regt to get out of the barracks. I don't know weather they will get out today or not. We bunked down on the ground last night. Levi Bump is here and feels bully. I will not write much this time as I hope that it is the will of providence that we should meet. Write as soon as you get this.

From you affectionate brother
