<<< Handy Dandy Notebook: August 2001 >>>

August 15, 2001: I cannot believe I did not make an entry on July 20th because that is the day I got my license! It was such a relief when I got it because I was finally done with all of the Behind The Wheels and worrying about the Road Test. I got a tad worried when I engaged the parking brake, though. The day before my dad asked me to test it out. The second time I tried it a bunch of smoke poured out from under the dash. The insulation on some wires somehow got fried. My dad disconnected the wire that goes from the PB to the PB light. Seemed to solve the problem. Good to finally have license now. As for the Marantz thing: In the last entry I said the 800 sounded better. WRONG! The Marantz sounds great now! Just had to be run for awhile and I had to get used to the sound. We (Me, Mom, and Dad) cleaned it the weekend after the housewarming. My mom cleaned the faceplate, my dad blew out with the air compressor what I did not get with the vacuum, and I windexed the knobs. Looks like a whole new receiver now! Absolutely amazing piece of equipment that I will never get rid of. I moved my room around a day or two ago thinking the stereo would sound better. It does! Advents have room to woof. The Marantz has better bass than the 800 by the way (smoother and more defined). 800 sounds closer to a tube amp. Still a great little receiver, though. That is all for now!
