February 25, 2001: On Friday the Countermans came to Appleton and stayed at the Holiday Inn. We took them to the mall on Saturday and then they stayed the night at our house. Minus the makeup work from my three days sick from school, it has been an awesome weekend.
February 18, 2001: Today I watched the Daytona 500. When there were about 60 laps to go, there was a 19 car accident. Everyone walked away, including the driver of car #20 who flew up in the air and flipped a couple of times! On the last lap, coming out of the last corner, there was an accident involving Dale Earnhardt and Ken Schrader.
It did not look as bad as it turned out to be. Earnhardt slammed into the wall and the announcer said that TV did not do it justice. About 20 minutes ago I found out that Dale Earnhardt had died instantly of massive head injuries. I was shocked, along with my other family members. He had 76 career victories in the Winston Cup. He was only 49 years old.
February 16, 2001: I finally got my receiver from UPS today! I came home and my dad said that he needed me to show him something on the computer. I saw the camera in his hand and immediately knew that I had received my receiver.
It sounds excellent! The right channel is weak, but I can equalize the speakers out with the balance. I am going to get it fixed one of these days. I am feeling really good right now. I actually had to force myself to get on the internet (a first)!
February 12, 2001: Today I had my first driving lesson. It was not too bad. The only thing I seemed to have trouble with was backing up in a straight line. Luckily, my instructor is a pretty nice guy.
The car was a Neon (as I expected). A nice little car...with some cool lookin' gauges! Anyways, I drove for an hour. The girl that drove after me was on her third lesson, so she seemed like a pro. My next lesson is Saturday. Oh ya, I get my receiver in a couple
of days! It is being sent out from Florida today. I cannot wait!
February 3, 2001: I have been looking at old receivers on eBay for awhile now and I had bid on one awhile ago, but did not get it.
I bid on one again tonight and got it! What a steal too at only $47.56! It is a Sansui 800. I know for sure it is a good old receiver because my cousin has the same one.
So, I am feeling pretty good right now. My driver's ed class ended on Wednesday. It is nice to have my school nights back. I cannot wait until I get the receiver! Wohoo!
