October 3, 2004:
I have to post this while it is still somewhat fresh in my mind. I went to the Alter Bridge show in Milwaukee last night. This MarkTremonti.Net forum post pretty much sums up the experience:
This show was at the Rave which is a nice smaller venue. Even being toward the back I could see Tremonti and company perfectly. They just blew me away. Myles held out those high notes without a problem and the songs sounded dead on.
About a quarter way into the show Myles mentioned something about how we were going to be blown away by a wall of guitars later in the show. I did not think much of it...just thought he was talking about when him and Mark play together. Then a few songs later he said that two of Mark's influences would be playing for us. When I heard that I got pretty damn excited. After he said that, Michael Angelo came out with two guitars fused into a V shape. He just started busting out licks with his left hand and started playing harmonies on the other side with his right hand. It was amazing. He ended it all by slowly raising the guitar up while shredding. It looked like something straight out of Spinal Tap. As if that wasn't enough, Troy Stetina comes out with an Ibanez and just rocks the house. I watched Tremonti standing in the background while these guys were playing. He was just bobbing his head and smiling.
Okay now the craziness is over, right? Nope. Michael Angelo comes back out as well as the boys from Alter Bridge. "Highway Star" starts playing and Angelo, Myles (playing guitar as well), Stetina, and Tremonti all line up in front and shred through the song. It blew me away. They sounded so good.
AB finished out the show with flying colors, all of us singing "Open Your Eyes" at the top of our lungs. Myles looked pretty damn happy when that was going on. You can just tell that he loves being a frontman. I'll definitely be going to the Green Bay show as well. There is no way I am going to miss an opportunity to see these guys again.
