<<< Handy Dandy Notebook: September 2002 >>>
September 12, 2002: Quite a bit has happened since the last entry. I have just been too lazy to make an entry. The day after the last entry I went to Kenosha with my parents and sister. It was not that fun until later that night when Nick, Nate, and I were cruisin' around (in the Regal of course). I just decided to roll by the Southport Plaza to see if anything was shakin'. We spotted three girls walkin' across the parking lot so I went around to get a better look. It turned out to be Jessie, Annie, and Jenna. We hung out with them for about an hour at McDonalds. That was pretty much it for the Kenosha visit.
I started back at school on the 3rd. Despite some semi-bummer classes, the day is not that bad. It is my senior year so this is like the home stretch now. Even though the school year always seems to drag on, I have a pretty good feeling this year will go by quickly.
Finally, September 11th was yesterday. I woke up thinking I was going to be sick of hearing about it halfway through the day, but it did not turn out that way. The school handled it well and did not shove it in our faces. I planned to watch the re-showing of "9/11" on CBS because I had only caught the last 50 minutes of it when it was first aired a few months back. Between seeing that and the ABC coverage before it, I was in awe. The ABC Special I watched contained detailed descriptons of what went on in the World Trade Towers from survivors. It even included computer animations which really made it interesting. After that was over, I turned to CBS but 60 Minutes was on so I just forgot about the "9/11" documentary. I went online at around 8 or so and the 2 girls I usually talk to couldn't understand why I was not happy and upbeat like they were. I did not bother even saying anything because it just kind of schocked me. Later in the hour I realized that CBS had started showing "9/11". I missed the beginning again! Oh well, I still caught a lot more of it this time. It was just absolutely amazing. What sounded like glass being shattered by bricks was actually people jumping from the burning towers to their deaths. I wish the heartless bastards that did all of this could see all that I saw and realize that they affected the lives of so many people in such a negative way. I so wish they could see the pain that the firefighters, victims, and anyone else that was affected by September 11th had to go through. Justice has not been served in this case, and I think it is possible that it never will be.
