Metal Gear Demo Problems

A problem with PlayStation 2 is stopping U.K. PS2 owners from being able to play the recently released Metal Gear Solid 2 demo.

The Metal Gear 2 demo was released last week with ZOE to much anticipation. No doubt, many PS2 owners would have picked up a copy of ZOE (which works fine) purely to play through the hour-long demo of PS2's most anticipated game.

Reports have been coming in about many users not being able to play the demo. This is said to be a fault with a certain percentage of PS2s, and not the software. "This is a problem with the PlayStation 2 hardware and not the actual software," a Konami spokesperson told FGN Online. We were also told that Konami would release an official statement later today.

We called up our local Electronics Boutique and were told that the store had received several calls from consumers saying that the demo didn't work on their machines. Sony's customer help line has also received complaints over the weekend.

Update: A Sony spokesman told Us, "We are not aware that this is a massive problem yet. There has been speculation of hardware faults and software faults, but it's too early to say what the problem actually is at the moment."

As soon as we hear more, so will you.
