CHAPTER TWELEVE

Josie made one last check in the mirror. Melissa and Josie had gone to Pacific Sunwear to buy swimsuits. It was a hot pink spaghetti string bikini. She hated how it felt like the triangles in the front were going to fall and she would flash the Backstreet Boys. Josie sighed and made a smile in the mirror, then walked to the door.

“HEY” Josie screamed opening it. A woman with brown hair stood in front of her carrying a cake. Josie eyed her.

“Were you expecting someone else?” The woman questioned.

“Who are you?” Josie snapped, the lady ruined her ‘hey’ meant for Nick.

“My name is Becky Hunt” The woman exclaimed. Josie smiled at her.

“Oh, My dad’s girlfriend?” Josie asked.

“Yep” Becky replied. Josie smirked.

“Who’s the cake for?” Josie questioned once Becky was inside.

“Well, it’s your dad’s birthday soon, so I thought I’d make a cake” Becky replied.

“You made that?” Josie asked. The cake looked like a professional cake.

“Yeah, I make cakes as a hobby, It sounds corny, but I enjoy it” Becky exclaimed. Josie was about to go over and check her hair again when Becky laid a hand on her shoulder.

“Can we talk?” Becky questioned. Josie eyed her and nodded. They walked over to the couch and Becky took her hand.

“Your father told me you didn’t like the fact that we’re getting married. I want to tell you something Josie, Once you get married once, all the other weddings after it aren’t as special as the first one, but with your father its different for me” Becky explained.

“You were married already?” Josie asked.

“Twice actually, I have a 23 year old son from the first marriage and a 18 year old daughter from my last one, I made mistakes, but with your father, I won’t” Becky exclaimed.

“Yeah, well, I really don’t care” Josie snapped, standing up.

“Josie-” Becky started. Josie shrugged.

“Listen, you two can do whatever you want, but don’t expect me to like you or the idea of you guys” Josie responded. She heard the door open and Brian’s head pop in.

“I told Nick this was the right place” Brian yelled. He walked up to Josie and hugged her.

“Hey, Are you Josie’s boyfriend?” Becky asked. Josie rolled her eyes.

“No, I’m just a friend” Brian replied, moving his hand to Josie’s butt. Becky saw him and made a face.

“You must be Josie’s mom” Brian exclaimed.

“No, this is my new stepmom” Josie muttered. She walked away from Brian and towards her room.

Everyone had gathered in the living room except Nick. Josie had looked everywhere for him and was giving up. She went to go grab some different shorts in her room. She walked in and locked it behind her, not even noticing Nick standing behind the door. She pulled her old shorts off and pulled some new ones on over her bikini bottoms. Josie sighed and fell on her bed. She closed her eyes when she felt the bed shake next to her.

“Hey” Nick exclaimed. Josie opened her eyes.

“Where the hell have you been I’ve been looking everywhere for you!” Josie yelled.

“I’ve been going through all your bras and shit” Nick joked. “I was in the back playing Basketball, where else would I be?”

“Basketball, Now why didn’t I think of that?” Josie exclaimed. Nick lowered his head and kissed her. He stood up and walked to his bag that was on the floor.

“Hey, Turn around” Nick exclaimed. Josie made a face, then noticed Nick was pulling his trunks on. She turned around and faced the mirror on her wall. Nick pulled off his shorts and pulled his trucks on.

“OK, I’m done” Nick exclaimed. Josie turned around and walked over to him.

“Did anyone on ever tell you that you’re beautiful?” Nick questioned. Josie smirked.

“Nope, Can’t say that anyone’s told me that one before” Josie joked. Nick leaned down and used his lips to pull hers apart. Josie had to admit that Nick wasn’t the best kisser she’d ever known, but whenever he kissed her he made her feel like she was the most important thing in the world to him and Josie certainly loved that.

“I’ll race you to the other side of the lake” Nick yelled. Josie pulled off her shorts and threw them on the dock.

“I swam that once, I was dead when I got home” Josie exclaimed. “Forget you”

“Oh c’mon” Nick begged. Josie didn’t notice Brian coming up from behind her. He grabbed her hips and pushed her in the lake. Josie’s body stung as the cold water touched it.

“This is cold!” Josie shrieked. Nick laughed and swam towards her.

“You know how people always say, The warmer you are the faster you swim?” Nick questioned. Josie smiled.

“GO” Josie yelled. She started across the lake, swimming as fast as she could. Josie could hear Nick behind her in the water, halfway there, Josie could feel a cramp starting in her leg. She swam it out until she reached the shore at the other side of the lake. Josie was breathing heavy by then and Nick had beaten her there.

“You even got a head start, losing to me must suck” Nick joked. Josie gave Nick a weak smile.

“I think I have a cramp in my leg” Josie complained. Nick swam over to her.

“Come here” Nick exclaimed. Josie swam over to him. Nick took her arms and brought them around his neck, pulling her legs around his waist.

“Brian and I were in the Gulf of Mexico, Like 60 feet out and I got a cramp. Brian was watching some show once on how to get cramps out, so Here we are in the middle of the fricken gulf and people are pointing at us because it looks like we’re having sex. The lifeguard came running out and Brian had to explain to him what happened to me” Nick explained. Josie laughed, feeling the pain from her leg slowly leave. Nick stared at her while he kept his hand on her thigh.

“I think I’m OK” Josie exclaimed, pulling from Nick’s arms. Josie and Nick swam back slowly to the dock.

“Where they making out? I thought Josie was a virgin” Leighanne exclaimed from land.

“Do you always get into other people’s business?” AJ questioned.

“It’s interesting AJ” Leighanne replied. Leighanne looked back at Josie and Nick in the water to see them swimming back to shore. Becky came walking down the hill.

“Hey there guys, Are you having fun?” Becky questioned. Everyone looked up at her.

“Yeah, we’re doing OK” AJ replied.

“Well, We have dinner all ready upstairs and after dinner you can go play some Basketball or some Volleyball in the back” Becky exclaimed.

“Well, Actually after dinner we need to take a flight to Mississippi” Leighanne exclaimed.

“Why?” Becky questioned. Amanda smirked.

“Leighanne’s best friend, Britney Spears is getting married tomorrow and she just decided to invite us at the last minute, so we need to fly out there tonight, get there and go to the wedding at noon and then fly to Michigan by 6 tomorrow” Amanda explained.

“Wow, you guys have fun then, where’s Josie?” Becky questioned. Leighanne pointed to the other side of the lake.

“She’s with Nick” Leighanne exclaimed. Becky smiled.

“Well, See you guys upstairs!” Becky responded, walking back up the hill to the house.

“You aren’t hungry?” Nick asked Josie. Josie shrugged. Nick leaned over and took the Ham sandwich from her plate.

“You want this?” Nick questioned. Josie looked over at her Dad and Becky feeding each other dinner.

“I lost my appetite” Josie muttered. Nick looked into the direction of Becky and Josie’s dad.

“You know, you’re taking this too hard, It’s actually pretty good ‘cause now while you’re with me your dad will have someone to talk to” Nick explained, taking a bite of her sandwich.

“He could go over to the neighbors and talk” Josie muttered.

“Well, so could I, but on my way over to the neighbors I’d be trampled to death by fans, That’s why you’re on tour with me” Nick joked. Josie looked up at him.

“What should I wear to Britney’s wedding? I can’t believe I was invited! I’m going to meet Britney Spears!” Josie exclaimed.

“I don’t see why you’re all excited, she’s a bitch” Leighanne commented.

“Well, I love her music and by the way Leighanne when you’re drunk you aren’t such a princess yourself” Josie joked.

“I’d wear a bright pink neon shirt and bright blue neon pants” Leighanne muttered. Josie stood up and walked to her room, going to go pack.
