"5 minutes til' midnight" Nick exclaimed, standing by the bar next to Faith. She laughed.
"Nick you dork, that's New years, not Halloween" Faith replied.
"No at midnight, everyone takes off their masks and stuff to see who there dancing with and then they kiss" Nick replied. "You never heard of that?"
"No" Faith replied.
"Maybe 'cause you don't get out much anymore" Nick replied.
"What's that suppose to mean?" Faith shot back.
"Nothing" Nick replied quietly. "You wanna dance?"
"With you?" She asked.
"No with the guy behind me" Nick replied sarcasticly.
"He is pretty hot" Faith joked. Nick grabbed her arm and pulled her onto the dance floor.
11:59" Someone yelled. Nick brought his body closer to hers as he pulled her into his arms. Faith didn't mind. The night hadn't been a disaster as she'd expected it to be. The music suddenly stopped and everyone yelled midnight. Nick brought her into his arms and kissed her. Faith was taken by surprise and didn't kiss back at first, but slowly kissed back. When Nick pulled away, he stared at her in amazement.
"What?" Faith asked.
"I expected you to disappear at midnight" Nick replied with a grin, making fun of her cinderella outfit.
"Wow that was funny Nick...This coming from someone whose dressed as a rotting corpse" Faith replied. Nick laughed and walked her back over to the bar. He went to go get some drinks while Leighanne ran towards her.
"We all saw you too...I'm so happy" Leighanne exclaimed.
"I'm happy too-I thought we'd be at eachothers throats by now" Faith replied.
"No...I mean about you guys kissing" Leighanne explained.
"Oh...That was just for the tradition thing...All in good fun" Faith explained. Leighanne gave her a confused look.
"Don't you see that he likes you?" Leighanne asked.
"We're just friends" Faith replied. Leighanne nodded.
"So...You had fun then?" She asked.
"It was better then sitting at home waiting for my man to come home" Faith replied.
"Yea...You know what's weird?" Leighanne asked.
"What?" Faith asked.
"While you wait for one guy, another one slips through your fingers" She replied, walking away. Nick came back with the drinks, but for some reason Faith was all partied out.
"I'm sorry for ruining your night" Faith replied. Nick was standing outside her room. He walked her back to her room since she wanted to leave early.
"Nah...I was kinda tired anyway-besides-You could never ruin anyone's night" Nick replied. She blushed.
"Yea....Well...Night Nick" Faith exclaimed. She went to shut the door, when Nick stopped her.
"Wait a sec..." He exclaimed. He leaned over and hugged her. "I saw you and Leigh talking, whatever she said, just forget it, in her mind she has this idea that I still like you"
"Do you?" She asked.
"Nah...We're just friends" Nick replied. Faith smiled. She gave him a quick kiss.
"Goodnight" She exclaimed. Nick smiled as she shut the door. Nick walked away with a smile, he'd asked AJ what to do about Faith, how to win her back. AJ told him to 'play it cool, take it slow' and that's exactly what Nick planned to do.
"AHHHHHHHH" Faith screamed at the phone. It had rang about 10 times that morning already. Faith sighed and got outta bed.
"Hello?" She asked.
"Hey...Did I wake you?" A sexy asccent asked.
"RUSS" She yelled. "Where are you?"
"In LA still....I have to extend my stay here another week" He replied. Faith sighed.
"Great" Faith replied. He laughed.
"What have you been up to?" He asked.
"Nothing...I went to a halloween party last night with Nick" She exclaimed.
"Did you have fun?" He asked.
"As much as I could" She replied. He laughed. She had told him their whole history together, so he didn't have any reason to be jealous at all.
"I gotta go...I love you" He exclaimed.
"I love you more" Faith replied. He hung up and she set the phone back on the reciever. It rang the second she put it down.
"Couldn't wait to talk to me again could ya?" She asked.
"Um...sure" Nick replied. Faith laughed.
"I thought you were Russell" Faith replied.
"I see...I'm kinda bored and I was wondering if you wanted to go out for lunch?" He asked. Faith looked at the clock, 11:30am.
"Sure-In how long?" She asked.
10 minutes...I'm down the road from your place-We had a meeting with our execs like an hour ago" He explained.
"Oh...That'll be fine" She replied.
"See ya soon" He replied.
"Yea" Faith replied.
Faith put on the last of her make-up and grabbed her purse just as Nick knocked on the door. She opened it wear a T-shirt and some fleece sweatpants.
"I feel underdressed" Faith exclaimed. He was wearing khakis and a rugby shirt.
"Nah...You look great" He replied. They walked downstairs and down the street to a little cafe to get some lunch.
"So-what have you been up to?" Faith asked.
"We're making a Greatest Hits album" Nick replied with a hint of sorrow in his voice. "9 years....and it's all over-It's so surreal"
"Yea...I guess" Faith replied.
"Like...whenever you decide to settle down with Russ and have a family...It'll be weird-because when you wake up you think you have 100 things to do and then you realize you can actually sleep-in for the rest of your life-ya know?" Nick asked.
"Can't say I do" Faith replied. Nick smiled.
"So...You two getting engaged anytime soon?" Nick asked.
"I think so actually....He keeps hinting at it and I'm so up for it" Faith replied. Nick smiled. He ordered food and let Faith talk while he kept silent, hanging on her every word.
"I love going on walks" Faith exclaimed as she and Nick walked through a park near the cafe.
"It really lets you think" Nick replied. She watched some people play frisbee and sighed.
"I wish that could be me" Faith replied. Nick looked in the direction of the people.
"Why can't it be?" Nick asked.
"You know why....I can't just go and hang with people without some freaking out or whatever" Faith muttered. "I sometimes wonder if giving up those types of things are worth it-You only live once Nick and I wanna be able to say I lived my life to the fullest"
"You will be" Nick replied. "How many people have been able to be in your position?"
"How many want to be in it?" Faith asked. Nick shrugged.
"My millions of fans" He replied. Faith laughed.
"Good Point...I got to hang around with THE Nick Carter....I must've been blessed to have that kind of life" Faith joked.
"Damn Straight" Nick replied. He took her hand and ran over to the people with the frisbee. "Mind if we play?"
"Sure" A tall blonde guy replied, looking at Faith.
Faith jumped onto Nick's shoulder's and he gave her a piggy back ride up to her room. Faith laughed as he set her down in front of her door.
"That was so much fun Nick....They didn't even know it was us" Faith exclaimed.
"Most people don't unless their your fans" Nick replied. She opened the door and stared at him.
"You wanna come in?" She asked. Nick shrugged.
"Sure" He replied. She walked to the kitchen and got two beers and threw him one.
"Anything on TV?" Faith asked. Nick flipped through the channels.
"No" He replied. Faith jumped on the couch next to were he sat, he legs falling onto his. Nick took a breath. He wanted her so bad, he knew he needed her but he was afraid that if he did anything he'd ruin what they had. He laughed and pushed her legs off his. Faith put them back and smiled.
"This is real nice Nick" Faith exclaimed.
"What's nice?" He asked.
"Being able to hang with you and not be afraid of our pasts together confusing things" Faith exclaimed. Nick stared at her. She'd said it right then, the thing he was most afraid of. She didn't love him the way he loved her. Nick smiled.
"Yea...It's great" Nick muttered.
