Brian pulled up to the hospital and sighed. He didn't know when his life had gotten so bad. He was the type of person that always thought of the good in every situation, so he was seldom very sad. Under normal circumstances, the average person would've given up on Megan in the first month, but he hadn't, because in his mind everything was alright.
"I'm so dense" Brian muttered. He looked up at the hospital, hesitant to go inside. He knew Megan wasn't there, she was probably still at home, but he didn't know if he could go inside and see Jason again. Brian opened the door and walked towards the door. The moment he opened it up, he bumped into Nick.
"Your still here?" Brian asked. Nick looked at his friend cautiously, as if he had something to hide.
"yea" Nick replied. He looked as if he was in a hurry, Brian wondered why.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"Nothing Bri, everything's fine" Nick replied. "I'm just really hungry"
"There's food here, I haven't eaten yet, we could eat and then go up to see Jason" Brian suggested.
"I hate hospital food" Nick replied. Without another word, Nick left the hospital.
"Weird" Brian muttered.
Megan was up in Her and Brian's room. She looked under the bed and found an old T-Shirt of Brian's. She pulled it over her head and put it on, cuddling with it. Tears flowed down her cheeks.
"Why was I so dumb?" Megan yelled. She placed her head onto his pillow and cried herself to sleep.
Nick's thoughts were a mess. There too many things running through his brain. He'd been looking for Megan when Brian walked in and took him off guard. He knew Brian noticed something was wrong, he couldn't even look at him without feeling guilty. Nick pulled into Meg and Brian's driveway and almost ran to the door. When he realized it wasn't locked and cocked open, he walked in.
"Megs?" Nick yelled. He glanced around the house, looking for a sign of something. He ran upstairs and found Megan asleep, wearing what looked like Brian's shirt. Nick walked over and rocked her. Her eyes fluttered open.
"Brian?" She asked.
"Nah...Just me" Nick replied. She wiped her eyes and gave him a smile.
"Hey" She replied. "Just as well it wasn't Brian"
"You look like shit" Nick commented. Her eyes were bright red and her nose was the same color.
"Well It's been a shitty day. Any news?" She asked.
"Unfortunatly" He mumbled. He sat next to her on the bed.
"What is it?" She asked.
"Me and Jason have the same blood type" He explained. "The doctor told me that doesn't mean anything-but I took a DNA test with it"
"And?" Megan asked.
"I won't know until tomorrow" Nick replied.
"So you can give him a kidney?" She asked.
"Yea-Tomorrow" Nick replied. Megan screamed with joy, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"I love you so much right now" Megan exclaimed. She kissed his cheek and squeezed him tight. Nick smiled and hugged her back.
"Brian can I talk to you?" The doctor asked. Brian looked up from Jason's sleeping body and nodded, following her down a hall.
"Do you know Nick Carter?" She asked. Brian nodded.
"We gave him a blood test and he matches your son's blood type" She explained. "He goes into surgury tomorrow and hopefully, your son with be fine"
"Thank God" Brian replied with a smile.
"We also gave him a DNA test" She exclaimed. Brian lost his smile.
"Why?" He asked.
"Nick thought he might be the father" She replied. Brian laughed.
"How would HE be the father?" He asked.
"I think you know how" She replied with a grin. Brian didn't find it funny.
"He can't be the dad-He's my best friend" Brian replied. She sighed.
"It was just to see. After he took the blood test and was a match, I also pushed him to take it" Dr. Monroe explained. Brian nodded and sighed, his day was just getting better and better. Dr. Monroe left him when a nurse called her. When Brian walked back into the room he saw Lyndz sitting near Jason.
"Hey Bri" She exclaimed. Brian stared at her for a second before breaking down and crying.
"So the doctor thinks Nick's the father?" Lyndz asked. Brian nodded. "Shit"
"Yea-I know" He muttered. Lyndz hadn't ever really seen a guy cry like that, she decided to deal with Brian like one of her girlfriends.
"What if Nick is the father?" Lyndz asked.
"What if what?" He asked.
"Will you still be Jason's dad?" She asked.
"No Nick is" Brian replied.
"Bri, you cared for him for like 5 years-and you'll just give up on him?" She asked.
"No-I'll be his uncle or something" Brian replied.
"What about Megan?" She asked.
"What about Megan? We're over, that's the end of it" Brian replied with no hint of uncertainly at all.
"She still loves you" Lyndz replied. Brian had to smirk.
"That's her problem" He replied.
