4.4.2006: 104.7 WBJZ (Berlin) has flipped to Adult CHR as "Magic 104.7". The flip occured at 3pm yesterday. -WisconsinBroadcasting.com
3.13.2006: 95.9 KISS FM has returned to the Fox Valley with its CHR format using the moniker, "The All New, All Hit 95-9 KISS FM". Doug and Mary will continue to do mornings, Dayton still on middays. I am not sure on the rest of the jock lineup. One interesting thing to note is the "Kiss Tag". Every song is IDed right as it ends by a computerized sounding voice.
2.18.2006: WLYD Green Bay has flipped from Rhythmic CHR to a Variety Hits-like format, the same one WROE is running. They are not, however, simulcasting. They are now using the call letters WZBY and calling themselves "The Bay." Website: www.997thebay.com -WisconsinBroadcasting.com
9.21.2005: WLFM Appleton has ended its mix of student programming and Wisconsin Public Radio. The station has been sold to Starboard Media and will soon carry a Catholic Talk format.
10.26.2004: Green Bay country station Kicks 104.9 now has a registered domain which is www.kicks1049.net. The site is still under construction, though.
9.20.2004: It looks like WWWX 96.9 FM (The Fox) has flipped to alternative rock. They are now using the positioners, "New Rock 96-9 The Fox" and "New Rock and 90's Alternative". They are also using someone new for the voiceovers.
ATTENTION: This will be the last piece of news I will post. I recently moved back to my hometown of Kenosha
so I can no longer monitor radio in the Fox Valley. I will leave the site up as is for awhile, but it will eventually just turn into a list of links
to related sites. Thanks to everyone that visited over the years.
NEWS: WXWX 107.5-FM ceased its simulcast of WWWX 96.9-FM (The Fox) and is now "107.5 The Fan", a sports station. Because of this, WDUZ 1400-AM will probably see some changes soon.
9.9.2003: Tomorrow morning on WAPL you will hear the familiar sound of "Rick and Len in the morning." Len Nelsen and Rick McNeal have been brought back to WAPL to do mornings once again.
9.2.2003: After stunting over the weekend by playing nothing but Garth Brooks, WPKR 99.5-FM is back with normal programming today. The jock lineup and slogan (The Valley's Best Country) seem to be the only things that have changed.
7.18.2003: Wednesday's prediction was wrong. WECB has gone Gold-Based AC with hits from the 60's through today. It is interesting to note that sister station WKSZ also has an AC based format.
7.16.2003: WECB 104.3 FM is now stunting by playing different versions of "Summer Breeze" and liners such as, "A cool breeze to lessen the summer heat. Keep it tuned to 104.3" The format will most likely be Jazz because "The Breeze" seems to be a name many stations with this format use (like WJZQ in Cadillac, MI).
6.8.2003: Midwest Dimensions is selling country simulcast WPKR/99.5 (Omro-Oshkosh) and WPCK/104.9 (Denmark-Green Bay) to Cumulus media for $8.1 million. Cumulus will take over the stations through a local marketing agreement before the sale receives FCC approval. Cumulus has four other stations in the Appleton-Oshkosh area and four in the Green Bay area. Two of the stations simulcast the same format, while another two broadcast similar formats for the different markets. (6/5/2003) -UMB
4.21.2003: WKSZ 95.9 FM is now Modern AC as "Mix 95.9, Today's Best Variety."
4.18.2003: Of course whenever I am out of town something big in Fox Valley Radio happens. KISS is currently stunting with Christmas music and is rumored to be going AC or Hot AC. You can learn more from the various message boards. If anyone wants to e-mail me if anything happens, feel free.
4.6.2003: Be sure to check out today's Post Crescent. There are some interesting articles in the Life & Style section about radio and consolidation. UPDATE: The rumor about the WECB sale is true. Woodward purchased the station last week. It will be interesting to see what they do with it.
4.4.2003: The nasty weather is leaving its mark on the radio dial: WZOR 94.7 and WLYD 99.7 are on the air with reduced power. WOGB and WXWX were out for quite awhile today but are now back on.
Rumor has it that Woodward Communications has purchased WECB 104.3 FM from Earl Brooker. I'll have more info when this is confirmed.
3.7.2003: WAPL has dropped "The Bob and Brian Show" in favor of a music driven morning show. Afternoon jock Scott Stevens (Scooter) will move to mornings 5-9 and PD Joe Calgaro moves to afternoons.
2.3.2003: The ratings for the Green Bay and Appleton-Oshkosh markets came out today. Here is a summary.
1.16.2003: The Fox morning team "Bill and Ted" have been off the air for the past few days. -Wisconsin Radio
12.06.2002: WAUH 102.3 Wautoma goes classic rock, ex-classic country. -Radio/DX WI
11.15.2002: WBJZ Berlin-Ripon dropped it's unique Jazz/Blues/Swing/Soul/Light format today at noon to become "Today's Best New Country, B104.7", with a Hot Country format. Locally produced, they will run 1047 songs in a row, and when the first commercial airs, you have the chance to win $1047. -Wide World of WI Radio
