Biography

Prince William Arthur Philip Louis Windsor was born on Monday, June 21, 1982 at 9:03 PM at St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, in North London. He was the first future king to be born in a hospital. He weighed 7 lb. 1 1/2 oz.

His mother was Princess Diana Spencer of Wales and his father is Prince Charles of Wales, (the Queen of England's son.) They married on Wednesday, July 29, 1981. He also has a brother names Henry Charles Albert David Windsor. Born on Saturday, September 15, 1984 at 4:20 PM at St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, North London. He weighed 4 lb. 14 oz.

On August 4, 1982, Prince William was christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Robert Runcie, in the Music Room at Buckingham Palace.

Prince William attended Mrs Mynor's Nursery School in west London from September 24, 1985, when he was three years old. During the first term, he attended two mornings a week until half term and then every morning.

Prince William acted in two nursery school plays, attended by his mother and father and younger brother Prince Harry, and also sang solo.

His favourite sports include water polo, football (soccer), rugby, and he also enjoys being with his friends, going to the cinema, watching football and rugby, and simply just having fun. Some of his favourite food include pasta, hamburgers, chocolate, venison, and fruit salad. His favouite drinks include Coke and red wine.

Prince William likes dance and pop music but also listens to classical. He enjoys simple dishes and fast foods, but also eats venison. His favourite drinks are Coke and red wine. Prince William shops for clothes himself and likes modern casual styles.

He has a black lab, named Widgeon, after a type of duck. He also loves horses, but doesn't have one of his own.

Prince William was a pupil at Wetherby School, also in west London, from January 15, 1987, until July 5, 1990. It was noted that his favourite classes were English and spelling. Sports Day was held annually at Richmond Athletic Ground and both The Prince and Princess of Wales took part in parents' races.

Prince William proved himself to be a stylish swimmer and entered the school gala held every March. At the age of seven, he won the Grunfield Cup awarded to the boy with the best overall swimming style. Prince William sang in the 1987, 1988 and 1989 Christmas concerts, and took part in the June 1990 school play.

The Prince spent five years at Ludgrove School in Berkshire, from September 10, 1990 until July 5, 1995.

At Ludgrove he was a rugby and hockey team captain, stylish swimmer, useful footballer and basketball player, crack clay pigeon shooter and represented the school at cross-country running.

He made his first public signature, signing the visitor's guestbook, at a Christmas concert by the London Symphony Chorus, at the Barbican in London. Confiming that he is left-handed.

On June 3, 1991, Prince William was admitted to the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, after an accident at Ludgrove. Playing with a friend on the putting green, he was hit on the side of the head with a golf club. He suffered a depressed fracture of the forehead but was not knocked out.

Prince William was transferred by ambulance to London's Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children and that evening underweat an operation.

On August 31, 1997, his mother was killed in a car crash in Paris. This was awful for William because he was so close to his mother. His mother always called him Wills so the nickname stuck with him.

One of the questions put to Prince William at the time of his 18th birthday was how difficult he found it to cope with public and media attention. Prince William replied: "I don't like the attention. I feel uncomfortable with it. But I have particularly appreciated being left alone at Eton which has allowed me to concentrate on my school work and enjoy being with my friends without being followed by cameras. I am grateful to the media for helping to protect my privacy and I hope I can enjoy the same freedom at university."

He graduated Eton College in June 2000 and is now attending St. Andrews school in Scotland.
