Brazilian Jiu-Jistu
Jiu-Jitsu is known as the gentle art. Self defense moves are taught to be able to handle stand up aggression, with a major emphasis on ground grappling techniques. It relies on technique and leverage to apply throws, chokes, and joint locks, rather than strikes and kicks. Strikes and kicks offer very little chance for success against an assailant who is most likely going to be bigger, stronger and capable of hitting back. Furthermore, they are useless on the ground which is where the attacker will usually carry out his assault. The jiu-jitsu techniques are based on leverage and technique and do not require strength, speed or coordination. They can therefore be used effectively by someone of any age, size, strength or level of physical fitness.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu emphasizes 3 main Areas

As with any martial art program the benefits from training are endless. Physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth are all possible with taking an individual sport such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Gain confidence, increase self-esteem, learn discipline, achieve academic success, stay fit and live a healthy lifestyle.

Adults and Kids
The most important skill Adults and Kids can learn are character building skills. This includes discipline, respect for self and others, anger and fear management, and conflict resolution. Other benefits for kids include learning stranger danger signs and 911 awareness.

At the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu School of North Carolina, classes focus on principles that are essential to developing a solid foundation in understanding and implementing BJJ techniques. This includes being able to handle stand up aggression from an attacker and using ground techniques that will stop, neutralize, and allow you to escape or fight back if necessary.
